This is my favorite coffee shop this side of Iowa. This place is simply wonderful. The food I believe is all gluten free and is very delicious.
The baristas remember your name. I was leaving the last time I was there and they used my name. That of course I do not expect. It just is very nice and shows they care about their customers.
This place hands down has THE best matcha lattes and I have been to a lot of places to compare. No sweetener unless you ask and it is not watery where you question what you ordered. You can taste the matcha and made perfect every time.
Good music is there and not too loud like other places. There is a variety of seating to stools, tables, couch, comfy chairs. There are plants which I think is a great vibe. Cleans the air, nice to look at. Environment is very clean. It is a great place to study for students. Never a problem with parking. One time the meter wasn't working and I had no change. I didn't ask and they gave me 4 quarters which I paid back and tipped.
Whenever I'm in Iowa City, I go here! Check it out if you...

I know what you’re thinking. Why on earth would anyone say something so controversial and daring. Why would anyone subject themselves to the slings, arrows, and other assorted projectiles of Iowa City’s famously opinionated townies?
Well gentle reader I am so brave and I simply can’t hold it in. Kindred is phenomenal - legitimately world-class - and I don’t care who knows it. Actually I do - everyone should.
I had a cappuccino that was so delicately frothed, so deliciously creamy, so delightfully sprinkled with notes of chocolate that I simply had to come back for more.
I got myself a decaf (made fresh to order) and was blown away. How on earth does plain black decaf taste this good? It was complex, acidic, with a bit of…is that raspberries? What?!
Anyway, do yourself a favor and visit kindred. I love all my Iowa city coffee shops. Java House for the vibes, Prairie Lights for the view, T-Spoons for the baked goods. They all have a place in my heart. But it’s now undisputed: Kindred is the go...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went into Tru this morning. We have been countless times before and never had a bad experience as the coffee and previous food menu was consistently good. Last time we went and this morning however, since the implementation of the new menu our experience has been anything but. The coffee is still quality enough but it isn’t nearly good enough to make up for the new food menu items that are frankly quite gross unfortunately. I have now tried several of the menu items and the only one so far that has been satisfying and delicious were the breakfast tacos. This morning however, the grill was down (which I’m not letting influence my rating because I am not sure of the circumstances), so I was forced to order something I wasn’t totally keen on. My boyfriend used to be vegan so we are very aware of what good vegan food tastes like and this is not it. The coffee is good if you’re just wanting a good easy drink but I wouldn’t recommend...
