Micky's Irish Pub — Restaurant in Iowa City

So I was not personally there, I had food brought home for me so I cant comment on service or atmosphere. The sandwich that was brought for me was a Reuben. Nothing difficult. Saurkraut, corned beef, thousand island and Swiss/provolone. What I received was a sandwich built with 5oz of saurkraut, 2 oz of meat, no cheese, and thousand on the side. I don't know if thats how things normally get done but that was terrible. If you're going to market as an irish pub a reuben is a staple and should be done better than what I received. The corned beef was delicious, even though I had to separate it from the obnoxious amount of kraut that took up the rest of the sandwich. I should have took pictures and feel bad that I didn't. Honestly, if thats what comes from the kitchen I don't believe a trip there personally is worth it. Believe me, I feel bad for leaving this and I don't do it lightly. Micky’s fish and chips are the best I have ever had. And I have eaten fish and chips everywhere I have ever gone...it is my thing... in Tanzania, Zanzibar, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, Arizona, Florida... The fish is so tender and plump and the breading is fresh and crunchy. Also the serving size is Excellent! 4 strips!! And the Lemon.... oh the lemon. They squeeze it over the fish before They serve them and it is genius. Oh and the tarter sauce.... 😩 it’s just so good. Perfect combination of pickle, lemon and mayo. I wish I would have taken a picture but as soon as I took one bite I lost consciousness and couldn’t stop.

Second. Their 7 layer dip is INSANE. The first layer is this rice that has some kind of seasoning that is so smooth.

Please please support this local business. You will never want to eat anywhere else in...

Racist place! Came with my 3 kids. A table was opened and waited to be cleaned. Went inside told a waitress we would like that table outside. She asked how many. I said 4 possibly 5. She said the table fits 4. I said that's fine my husband isn't coming. We went outside standing and waiting while another waitress going in and out cleaning the table and saw us waiting but didn't said anything. 2 young white girls came in after us got seated after the table was cleaned. Even after I told them we have been waiting and only 4, the waitress seated the girls and tell us to wait for another table opens up because she THOUGHT we were 5. If she thought we were 5, why didn't she said anything while seeing us waiting to let us know where we are going to be seated for 5 if it isn't the table she...
