I've been visiting MidTown Family Restaurant since they were actually downtown some 20+ years ago. If this is what you're in the mood for your options are Village Inn, Perkins, or MidTown. Between the 3, MidTown is superior quality food and typically in service too.
They run a pretty small staff so getting seated some days can take a few minutes. But once you're in the service is very good. It's not the kind of very attentive service at some higher end restaurants, which quite frankly I find annoying. A lot of those kind places over serve because their food doesn't really justify their prices. Midtown is very fairly priced and I use those excellent prices to justify tipping robustly.
This is all not to even mention their menu is huge and breakfast is available all day. Just like it should be. So don't waste your time going elsewhere. Good food, good price, good service. Midtown is head and shoulders...
Read moreLet me begin by prefacing that this place truly deserves 4 stars. But let me explain why I gave it 5. Midtown has a comfortable and homey atmosphere, the servers and hosts were all friendly and greeted my wife and I with a smile at each interaction. The food was solid and not too expensive. And though a diner like this makes good pancakes, toast and eggs, the food was not AMAZING but still good.
Service was great and prices were good, sometimes that's all it takes for a place to go from 4 stars to 5. My wife and I really enjoyed people watching and seeing seniors gather together at this diner. It reminded us of a small diner where grandma and grandpa would go to often.
I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns and scrambled egg, my wife ordered a skillet with bacon, green peppers and mushrooms. Both were tasty, we really enjoyed our time at Midtown and we will dine...
Read moreI don't know how this place has so many good reviews. I was in there yesterday and here is my opinion of the whole experience.
Atmosphere - cramped, the place is big enough you could open it up by taking out a few walls.
Staff- the two people that work there were friendly, but noticably over worked, needs more staff especially for a Saturday.
Food- was mediocre diner style food, nothing special. My kids got burgers that were just hard dried out bricks. My wife's chicken was so dry it looked like splintering wood. I was lucky and got breakfast which is hard to mess up but the wrong food was brought to me, which goes with the over worked staff.
Price- was ridiculously high for the type of food. I could have gone to Olive Garden for less money.
The only reason it even got 2 stars was because the...
