We were in the process of starting an addition on our home: I had been referred to Slager's for their brand selection and service. My initial visit was in October 2018, where I ended up purchasing the floor model of a steam oven, a convection wall oven along with two other appliances. As the terms were cash and carry, I offered to pick up at any time. I was told to hold off until the appliances were needed - that way the warranty would kick in when they were initially put into service. Once the wall display was changed out, I was assured that my purchases would be securely stored on their premises until we were ready. Our construction was delayed and I made sure to check in with Slager's that it was alright to leave the appliances there and I was assured that it was. I just need to give two weeks notice to ensure everything was ready for pick up. I called in April 2020 and finally just left a message (because every time I called it went to voicemail) that we would be ready to pick up the appliances soon and also needed to swap out one appliance for one style to another. No response. Finally received a response on 05/12/20 and I stopped in to make the revision to the order and also notified them that the contractor would like to pick up the appliances the next week. Other than the revision - everything else would be ready to go. Our contractor was finally informed last week (06/02/20) that it was all in and ready to go. When he showed up on Friday (06/05/20) to pick up - the wall oven was not ready. He was eventually told that the wall oven was actually moved from the Slager's display to a display at an outlet store (definitely after I had purchased it; possibly after I left the voicemail in April that we would be ready for it). It was unknown when it would be ready for pick up because it would be up to the other location. But they felt bad and offered free delivery. At this point, we had enough - multiple calls, messages, e-mails with no response; lack of communication between the employees. Slager's were notified to issue a refund for the wall oven and we no longer wanted it. I didn't even want to push for a new oven or another model/brand if this is how the sales process was going after having the appliances purchased back in October 2018. I really had my fill. Along with speaking to the employee, the contractor had e-mailed multiple times to ensure the message was received that we no longer wanted the wall oven. As they were using it in another location, we didn't view this as a problem. Within 24 hours (06/06/20), I was able to line up a wall oven from another business and had it in our home within another 24 hours (06/07/20). Today (06/09/20) a Slager deliver truck backs up to our home unannounced. No e-mail, no call, nothing - to even ensure that anyone would be available to meet the driver. It appears that the employee that our contractor spoke to did not relay the message. E-mails and phone calls are STILL not being returned.
I am not hopeful that I will receive a refund on the wall oven at this point.
UPDATE: I did receive a timely and prompt e-mail plus voicemail from Adam acknowledging and apologizing for the lack of service I received; and offered additional warranty services on the other appliances that we did receive - which I do appreciate. I truly believe the apology was heartfelt - and not only because it was in progress before I posted this original Google review. I also received a refund on the wall oven in a timely manner as well. I'm going to chalk it up to sometimes a customer just seems to be jinxed - no matter the good intentions. With that being said, I'm satisfied with the resolution...
Read moreUpdate: 9/26/2024 Tim Slager reached out to us on 9/20/2024 and personally came to our house to fix the issue on 9/23/2024. As it turned out the riser is supposed to have foam blocks in between the top panel of the riser and the bottom of the washer to prevent the top of the riser from vibrating which ours was missing. He was able to add foam between the riser and washer which seems to have fixed our issue. We have run several loads of towels, bedding, and clothes and all have been quiet. Thank you, Tim, for taking the time to diagnose the problem and fix it!
Original review from 9/20/2024 We purchased a new GE Profile front load washer and riser from Slager at the end of August 2024. Install was fine but within a few loads the washer was extremely loud during the spin cycle. My wife showed a video to Slager and they agreed to come out and look at the washer. They did come and inspect the washer to ensure the riser was attached correctly and added some stick on foam to the back to prevent the drain hose from banging. However, this did not stop the noise. I even put a decibel meter on it and it peeked at 95dB, video attached. Above 85dB can cause hearing loss. I eventually found the issue by getting my fingers between the washer and the riser, and by pressing down on the top of the riser I was able to get rid of most of the noise. I went back to Slager and asked them if they could come back out and add insulation or foam between the washer and the riser to deaden the sound. The response was that this isn't a warranty issue GE covers and some risers are noisy. They suggested I add my own insulation because thats not something they stock or we could possibly return the riser. I explained that I understood that this might not be a warranty issue but I don't feel I should have to fix a brand new appliance myself. Returning the riser doesn't make sense as it would need to be removed by them at which point they could just add some insulation or foam and be done so why return it. At this point I didn't feel I was making any headway toward a resolution so I left stating that I will take care of it myself. We went to Slager because they are local and supposedly pride themselves on customer service. However, we found their customer service severely lacking and will never purchase anything from Slager again or...
Read moreThis place came highly recommended to us when we were looking for a new washer and dryer. We knew what we wanted, the set was the same cost at Home Depot and Lowes, but we felt a local option would be a better experience. I drove there to look at and order the set. The sales person (Justin) was kind and knowledgeable, was happy with the process and that they would be delivered the next day! The set was delivered, washer was not in a box, dryer was fully boxed, I thought this was odd. The washer was dirty from it being snowy and slushy out that day, and covered with sticky stuff from packaging. I called the office and talked to someone regarding this, he stated they take all appliances out the box to inspect (fine, but that just showed me the dryer was never inspected). He assured me the washer was brand new and not used, never once an apology for delivering it in that condition, didn't expect to have to clean my brand new washer.. When my husband got home he inspected the washer and it was scratched up and paint chips all over, this machine definitely looked used. He called the next morning and they said they would talk to someone about the issue. Days passed and no return call. We called several times during business hours and could not get anyone on the phone. Finally spoke with someone who still wasn't sure about it, we let them know we needed a new washer delivered to us, said they would call back. Again, no call. We called the next day and they finally said they'd bring a new one. They delivered the new one in a timely manner. It was scratched, but far less than the first (still very frustrating but at this point we needed a washer and were so over it) the delivery guys were so kind. We didn't read manual of machine (nor do l know if this is in there) because we already knew how to run the machines, so we ran the washer and it about fell off the pedestal it was on when it began the cycle. Turns out they didn't remove the shipping bolts, nor feel the need to tell us about these. We will be taking our business elsewhere next time. This company never once apologized...
