Panera Bread — Restaurant in Iowa City

This location needs help. I love Panera because of their quick options that aren't deep fried but I have to say the Sycamore Mall location is just gross. The bathrooms are filthy, The floors are coated in black and you can tell the grout lines should be grey but instead they are black. The light sconces were stained and falling apart. The trash can lid was filthy.

In the dining area, the drinks were well stocked but there was not plasticware available anywhere. I had to ask for everything from the surly food prep employee. The to go container dispenser in the pickup area was empty except for a few scattered lids and when I patiently waited for the food prep person to be available (didn't have a name tag on) he made eye contact and walked away from me not once but twice.

They were also out of multiple items at 6pm. They were out of Potato Soup, Chips, and Sugar Cookies. Those were just the items that my group has asked about, who knows how many other items were sold out.

Finally, Panera is known for their great bread but on this visit we were sorely disappointed. It was dry, over proofed, and stale. The normal crunchy exterior was chewy and the normally nice soft middle was dry and crumbly.

We love Panera so we've overlooked issues at the location in the past but this visit was the last one for us. Their prices are already at the top end but the pay that kind of money for sub par food and surly service is...

I don't know what in the heck has happened to this store. When we walked in we were ignored by staff for a full five minutes and the store was entirely dead. The store was FILTHY DIRTY. Tables were not washed, floor was dirty, papers sitting out on the counter everywhere. The staff were busy talking and complaining at each other. The man making sandwiches was loudly complaining about earlier customers. The woman who took our order finally had a complete flat affect, no smile, no friendliness whatsoever. It took the guy making our sandwiches like 20 minutes to do it because he was talking so much and then when he put the sandwiches in the oven all the toppings fell off an into the bottom of the oven and he had to remake them. One woman sat on her cell phone most of the time. We didn't get part of our order. And when we got home to eat our sandwiches they weren't even made with the correct recipes and were inedible. Seriously the general manager needs to contact me ASAP or I'm contacting corporate. This store is in trouble. Poor, poor service and...

This is one of the worst ran Panera’s ever, and this is coming from someone who has worked for the company before. There have been several times in which we have ordered and our order was wrong. I’ve gotten salads that come with chicken with no chicken three times now, with tonight being the third. I’ve gotten a bowl of soup but given a cup, as well as having ordered full sandwiches and gotten half. Just about everything that can go wrong in an order has gone wrong in this location. Although managers are quick to refund it shouldn’t be a problem to begin with. You would think if they followed protocol and had two people check the order before it went out, it would be correct, but unfortunately that is not the case. Very disappointed with service I have...
