Disappointed by the Customer Service Despite Good Food I feel compelled to share my experience due to how poorly I was treated at this restaurant. From the moment I sat down, the service felt rushed and impersonal. The server seemed visibly agitated and pressured me to order quickly, which immediately made me uncomfortable. I asked to substitute cilantro with lettuce, and was surprised to find that I was charged extra for this basic change. What made it worse was when the server placed the cilantro on the very edge of the table—it was accidentally knocked over, and I was charged again to replace it. I raised my concern and requested to speak with a manager. After waiting for 20 minutes, no one ever came to speak with me. To top it off, the server charged my meal to another customer’s credit card and only partially fixed the bill—removing just one cilantro charge. This string of mishandled situations felt careless and dismissive. While the food was actually very good, the overall experience was frustrating and, frankly, disheartening. As a Black woman, I left feeling like I wasn’t taken seriously, and that my concerns were brushed aside in a way that felt deeply rooted in bias. It was especially hurtful because I was with colleagues who didn’t understand the weight of what I was experiencing. This could have been a great dining experience, but the lack of respect and accountability completely ruined it. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously, not just for me, but for anyone else who may feel unseen or unheard in their...
Read moreMy family loved this restaurant in West Branch and we were very excited when they opened an Iowa City location since that is where we live. The food has always been great. The service has been OK. Our orders have been wrong in the past while dining in. No big deal because the food is delicious. We have ordered the same thing on several occasions and the bill has been different each time. Again, no big deal. However, this evening (8/1/2020) will be the last time that we will be giving our patronage to this establishment. We ordered a few meals for takeout. The food was picked up in a tied up plastic bag. When the bag was opened at home we discovered that one of our meals was missing. Again this is not a big deal. Stuff happens. We called the restaurant, let them know, they apologized and they said to come back for it. When my wife arrived at the restaurant one of the staff began to argue with her saying that they had packed the meal in the bag basically calling my wife a liar. What do we have to lie about? A mistake was made. We did not receive what we ordered and paid for. Instead we were served complete disrespect as frequent patrons of a local business. Never again. Also, I will be sure to relate this occurrence to anyone and everyone that I ever hear even mention Mexico Lindo, friend or stranger. ...
Read moreWe have eaten here regularly for many years. But in the last year or so, we've noticed that our takeout orders were missing food. The first time, they apologized and gave us a discount card, though we didn't ask for it. We assumed it was an honest mistake. The second time, a month or so later, it happened again. We thought, maybe they have new staff and it's just a rough patch. It happened a third time, but my husband caught it at the restaurant by opening up the bag and checking before he left. We grumbled that maybe it was time to stop going there, but a few months later, due to convenience, we ordered from them again. Again, one of the entrees was missing. When my husband asked why they were consistently failing to give us our full takeout order, the staff member told us that restaurants all over town always mess up orders. It's disappointing to have to stop going to a spot that has generally had good food and decent service, but something has changed in the last year and not for the better. We will not...
