When thinking on what to write about this place, I just can't get around believing that it's one of the best places you can patron... seriously. The people are great. The atmosphere is great (even though they play Shrek a lot). The coffee? Great. Genuinely, I have learned more about coffee from these guys than anywhere else in the world - it's almost kind of a negative because now I can't go to places that are everywhere (i.e., Starbucks) because they just don't taste right to me anymore. Matter of fact, Daydrink does such a great job with their coffee that I don't even consider it to be the same drink as something you'd get from other popular places. Daydrink transcends. Daydrink has opened up my third (coffee) eye. And I think that's special. On top of all of this, it's somewhere that is open to everyone. I have been many times and I have never seen a person come in and feel like they're not welcome there - to one up that, I don't think there's been a person that goes to grab a coffee that leaves without feeling like a friend. These are the homies, and these homies know how to do it right.
p.s., I also met the tallest person I've ever seen at Daydrink... Keep an eye out for Ed, man's the most gentle giant in the game. (and tell...
Read moreDaydrink is hands down the best coffee shop I’ve ever visited. Their specialty espresso, made from single-origin, specialty, (usually) light roast beans, offers a bright, complex flavor that’s a refreshing change from the usual bitter dark blends of other coffee shops. Their brewing techniques rival world-class standards, delivering a cup that’s both precise and flavorful. If you see scales and timers for every step of the brewing process, you know they’re serious about pulling the best shots. The seasonal drinks add a fun, creative twist to the menu, ensuring there’s always something new to try. A must-visit for anyone serious about...
Read moreDaydrink is really another level above all other Iowa City cafes. Its far better than 329 in Davenport as well. Baristas are highly trained and the roasters and ingredients are only exceptional. While other cafes may offer single origin espresso beans, the technical skill of the baristas and the specific beans used really make for a far superior result. This is the first place in eastern Iowa that is on par with the high-end cafes in major cities.
I genuinely hope that Daydrink can continue to gain a following and allow the leadership there to build something special to highlight what IC...
