Luna Mare Cuisine — Restaurant in Ipswich

We’ve had a love affair with Ithaki for about 25 years and were so disappointed when the Ipswich location closed. While we did visit the Peabody restaurant and always enjoyed it, we missed the intimate atmosphere of the original spot.

That’s why we were thrilled when Petros opened Luna Mare in the old Ipswich location. We’ve already been three or four times—and can’t wait to go back. The menu is full of great options, from tapas-style plates to appetizers and entrées, so there’s something for every mood. We’ve tried something different each visit, and everything has been excellent.

If you enjoy a Negroni, we highly recommend the Capri Sunset—a wonderful twist on the classic.

Amazingly fresh and vibrant food.

Have only had the chance to try a handful of dishes, but rather than overcomplicate, the (Notably freshly sourced) ingredients highlight each other fantastically well, giving each other room to shine.

Definite innovation going on, but even the basic starters are well refined. Off the bat, the options are enticing and varied, but most importantly seem practical and well practiced. The proportions make sense and in the dishes I tried, combine wonderfully.

And I absolutely Need to reiterate the freshness. If you want food that makes you feel good, and makes you feel better, this is the place. It's just also pretty...

We enjoyed our first visit to Luna Mare. Our cocktail and mocktail were delicious-- and the latter was made using locally sourced watermelon. Nice wine list as well.

We ordered 5 mezze/tapas dishes. They all came out at the same time-- this made it hard to focus, and made us feel hurried to try everything before the food got cold. It would be better if the tapas came out in stages so we could focus on one dish at a time, and the food could be enjoyed warm. Would recommend the brussels and pork belly. Falafel was also very delicious.

Altogether very pleased to see Luna Mare in Ipswich and look forward to returning often for...
