I wish I weren't writing this review. In part, because I wish the food weren't so bad. Moreover I wish I hadn't even tried it. I usually stick to the other takeout places in town when I want a treat. I should have stuck with the tried-and-true. From best to worst; The delivery process was excellent, it's cheaper and faster than using Doordash. I didn't get any updates and was surprised when my order arrived so quickly!

The hot and sour soup has lots of goodies in it, though it was neither hot nor sour. In fact it was rather sweet. I added more white pepper and vinegar at home. Tempura was overly bready and bland and the dipping sauce was bitter.

Most offensive item was the chirashi. The presentation was okay enough. But I knew better than to order something like that from a place like this. But curiosity kills the cat. The sashimi cuts were quite thick and didn't highlight the flavors at all. Maybe that worked in my favor. As some of the pieces were entirely inedible and went right in the trash. Some pieces were slimy to the touch, some smelled off, some tasted like they'd been "freshened" with lemon juice, and the most atrocious, the smoked salmon. I'm not sure why they'd add smoked salmon to a chirashi. Maybe it was the only fish they had on hand. Honest-to-god, it smelled and tasted of soiled diaper. I mean the pure ammonia smell emminating from these two chunks was incredible. A significant amount of the dish went right in the bin where, sadly, I think it belonged. I lost my appetite and had stomach cramps from this dish. Maybe it was actually off, maybe I was just disgusted. Either way I was sick this morning. My body said...

Kevin O. might be Autistic or have some sort of sensory issues. Otherwise, maybe he has a personal issue with the staff. But this place is AMAZING. One of the best Chinese food restaurants I've ever been to in my entire life. No doubt about it.

Eddie, the owner, is a very hard working man. He is very friendly. Very respectful. I've always enjoyed myself every time I went to the Mayflower. The staff are just as nice and I've given $20 tips for Take Out! The food and service is just THAT GOOD!

I LOVE the sushi. Second to none unless you want to go to Boston where you would probably find dishes of similar quality unless you go somewhere exotic and very high priced. On that note, the pricing is good. The place is clean. They even offer live entertainment most nights. They just go above and beyond. I love the Mayflower. I don't know whats wrong with this Kevin O character. But I hope he gets help for his condition.

In fact, I don't think people who have such difficulty with communication and who struggle with social interactions such as obsessive/compulsive interests, and repetitive behaviors should be taken seriously when they write these disparaging reviews. We all know their standards are unstable. And that means these reviews become a place for obscure and unknown people who think they're Food Critics to assert themselves in a way that can really damage someone's business.

Kevin O reminds me of the South Park episode: "You're Not Yelping". Gotta love the...

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in years. HORRIBLE service. I didn't get my food until my friend was done with hers and several other tables, who got their after us, got their food. I thought, at first, oh it's ok, because she's new, and nice. But, actually no, she was really rude. I ended up having to talk to the manager because this woman was so frazzled and the other server kept bringing us food from other tables. They took one meal off but, she never even brought me my soup and salad, which I didn't realize until afterward because I was so distracted by all the mishaps. I have no idea why this place has such good reviews, someone must be getting paid to write them. The ambiance, oh wait there was none, turns out it's a dive bar posing as a sushi restaurant. Super loud, they burnt incense while we were eating, and playing music over the sound of the tv and the constant routine of various beeps they have to alert them to do different things, like answer the door, or pick up an order of food. The food itself was the only remotely decent thing about this place but really, we live in an area where there is plenty of quality seafood and sushi, good service matters. This place doesn't have it. I HIGHLY suggest going elsewhere. I will NEVER go back here or recommend this. What a total waste of...

May Flower in Ipswich, MA, is an absolute gem! The sushi here is incredibly fresh and delicious, with each roll crafted to perfection. The flavors are vibrant, and the quality is top-notch, making it a must-try for any sushi lover. Beyond the sushi, the Chinese food is just as fantastic—flavorful, well-prepared, and always served hot. Whether you’re craving classic favorites like General Tso’s chicken or a perfectly crispy spring roll, May Flower never disappoints. And let’s talk about the drinks—strong, tasty, and expertly mixed! Whether you’re in the mood for a Mai Tai or a Scorpion Bowl, their cocktails pack a punch in the best way possible. With great food, delicious drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere, May Flower is hands down one of the best spots in Ipswich. Highly recommend—five stars all the way!

One of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. Food is a bit pricier than others but the quality is there to support that. Sushi is fantastic and not shy on the fish. I'm also a really big fan of the Crab Rangoon. It's super crispy on the outside and a dream on the inside. Curry dishes are also favorites and consistently delicious. Sitting at the bar is a must as the bar staff are amazing (Grace is our favorite) and delightful and the regulars chatty and friendly. It's a great spot and great atmosphere.

If you're looking for late night food this is the place to go. Once you're there may as well get a night cap, if you're looking for one of their better stronger drinks go for the Dirty Glove, an absolute fan favorite. If you're in Ipswich this is the place you'd want to go for sushi, they have a nice wide variety of fresh fish for their rolls.
