I've been coming here for a long time and it's no longer a matter of the food or the service, but the protection and actual interest in their customers. The powers that be did not have enough prudence when setting up their online ordering. To quote the great Orlando Bautista "An error does not become a mistake unless you refuse to correct it". That is exactly what is going on here.
I started using their online ordering system for pick up very early on, then one day I get there and my food was gone. I assumed they didn't make it yet, come to figure out when done they place it out for you to grab, out in the open for ANYONE to grab. I'd been swindled. They made it right and remade my order. The 2nd time this happened I told the manager they need to change the process, nothing. The online ordering does not allow for in store payment.
My tip to you is to just walk in, grab something that's on the waiting counter and walk out. Maybe some other voices will make it clear the holes in their process. Seriously a company of this size to have a security gap like this. If you are not picky, yes I'm advocating you grab someone else's meal. If you are not going to take my suggestion or listen to the letter I wrote corporate this is what will happen.
I love the bread, but their sandwiches are really lacking any thought. Soup's are getting more bland and to be SF based brand there sure isn't much in the way of actual clams anymore. Just potato chowder with a few mixed in. Cheddar Broccoli is getting more and more watered down too. I love the cranberry they use and the tuna salad. The salad's themselves are getting bigger and bigger, but their dressings are not all that bright or fresh.
Service is only ok, wait times are long, parking sucks. Management has refused to pay any attention to the matter and corporate doesn't seem to care either. The fresh bread displays are great, it's clean, maybe a...
Read moreThe restaurant looked clean. Didn't eat there, took it to go. Ate the pesto chicken sandwich. It was fresh ingredients, and fresh bread of course, the best part imo. Didn't really care for the flavor of the sauce or the way the sandwich was constructed. I had to hold the innards in from spilling out of the sides of the sandwich with every bite and it was messy. Might as well just put the bread on the side and eat the chicken out of a cup . Or use softer bread at least so it doesn't squeeze the sandwich so hard. I just don't understand how they can eat it themselves and not think the same thing. But whatever. I'm not gonna kill their rating over what I prefer. The food was fresh. The price was kinda high. I bought the sandwich, a single serve bag of kettle chips, (like subway's) and a medium fountain drink, and one loaf of sliced sourdough bread and it...
Read moreThis location near Jamboree and Main in Irvine is the worst. Boudin sourdough bowl soup is what you are known for and the biggest reason to go. 6:30pm we pick up our to go order for 7 people, get back to the hotel, no sourdough bowls, just cups of soup. Also forgot drinks. Went back and they said we are out of sourdough bowls. The main reason to go there. Also when picking up the order, they were substitution oatmeal raisin cookies for chocolate chip because they were out of those also. ALL OF THIS WOTHOUT SAYING ANYTHING TO US. What did they do? Give us a slice of sourdough bread. People behind the counter running back and forth and seemingly too busy for their own good. Corporate needs to meet with this location owner and staff and retrain how to keep things in stock and how to handle busy times. 1 star is...
