My girlfriend and I visited this weekend for her birthday. All in all we paid $756.90 and I want to break down why we have given this place a 3/5.
We visited with our 13yo 10lb Shih-Tzu. We paid $100 for the pet deposit which is listed on website. However, I believe that the $100 should only be used if the pet(s)/dog makes a mess and/or has an accident. Accidents aren’t something that can be hidden since we can all smell urine/poop. Especially in a hotel/room that already already had a very distinctive good-smell to it. My Shih-Tzu is hypoallergenic so she doesn’t shed. However, I know other dogs do. I strongly believe that the deposit should be held and refunded at the end of the stay IF the pet made no messes/accidents and/or didn’t shed.
When we arrived I was checked in by the male receptionist, I don’t remember his name unfortunately but he was very kind and welcoming. I asked him to explain the pricing because I was paying more than I had initially thought and he seemed a bit confused explaining it. I don’t believe this is his fault, I believe that the business should make it a point and a priority that their employees know the prices and how to explain them. I let it go but another guests won’t.
We paid $100 for parking for 4 nights and it was conveniently close enough. The amenities all exceeded our expectations, the bar (we didn’t use) is close by. The gym has updated equipment, we are on 75-hard so this was a big plus for us. The breakfast was nutritious enough even arriving 10-20 mins before end-time. The service was the best part; they do have 24/7 service that we ended up using when we needed makeup remover wipes late at night and every encounter with an employee was 10/10. They were all very nice and friendly.
The room. We stayed in room 204 and it is close to a stairway exit to the outside, we used this to take our dog outside to go potty and we couldn’t enter through that same door. I believe that if we can exit through the door, we should be able to enter that same way. It caused us to walk all the way around going up the stairway on the opposite side of the hotel. The kitchen in the room was very well put together. The living room area was also great. The room itself gives an apartment/studio vibe since it has the kitchen included. However, if visiting with a family of 4-5 I believe the room could be too small. The TV wall is right in front of the King bed leaving a space of less than a ft between the end of the bed and the beginning of the TV wall making the space a little cramped and feeling of “cluttery.” or just like the bed should be of a smaller size. The bed was comfortable but the pillows are too “squishy” or flat. Once you lay your head the pillow deflates almost all the way. The bathroom was our biggest take away and will probably be the reason we won’t visit another Hyatt. The door is a “barn-door” style and can be a little difficult to open slamming into the wall frame. It also lacks the privacy because of that door, since there are gaps on both ends. The shower smelt like wet dog, I’m assuming from the previous guest. The glass door opens to the toilet instead of the counter. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash bottles are used by multiple guests and they were dirty at the bottom of the dispenser nozzle. There were little flaws/imperfections like maintenance that was poorly covered up with paint that didn’t match or just wasn’t covered up at all. The toilet paper is 1-ply and I believe for the price we paid, we are all worth the 2-ply lol.
Overall, the stay was 3/5 and I’m certainly not one to bash any business but I will be honest for others who are thinking of staying here....
Read moreWe picked this hotel for 1 reason, the kitchen! When we first got into the room, we were so excited to see a fully stocked kitchen! There's pots and pan, utensils and even salt and pepper! However, when we actually started cooking, we immediately realize there's a problem, which is the very weak ventilation hood. Basically, the hood is non-exist.
Another complain is the shower door cannot be completely closed, therefore, water is everywhere on the floor. We were staying for 1 night only so we did not bother requesting to switch room.
Parking is $20 and there’s a covered parking lot behind the hotel. However, it makes it a bit difficult to load and unload the luggage. A bit of a walk from the parking lot to hotel back door. We unload our luggage at the front, and then one person stay at the front to keep an eye of the luggage, and another person parked the car. When we leave, it was a bit more challenging as we have to load our luggage at the back door. It was a one-way only so cannot go back to the front entrance.
Otherwise, service is great. We forgot to bring HDMI cable and the hotel was able to lend us one during our stay.
Breakfast is free and the tables are 30-40% fill up around 7am. Selections are limited. Gloves are provided for better hygiene. I overhead a guest commented on the breakfast that it was the same, daily, no change in variations at all, so she got sick and tired of it. I only stayed for 1 night so I couldn’t comment on it.
One thing I want to highlight is this hotel is very environmental friendly. They provide a machine to refill water which helps to reduce plastic waste. Plates and cups at the breakfast area are also reusable.
I find the blackout shade to be ok, there’s “track” on both sides to ensure the blackout shade to stay in place and minimize the gap between the window frames.
The fridge does come with a freezer, which is nice as it is not a common feature in other hotels.
Overall, I paid extra for the full kitchen, but it wasn’t as functional as I wish. May be this place is worthwhile to say, if you get a cooperate discount code for...
Read moreI travel from Texas to Irvine once a month for a week to Irvine. I usually stay here at this hotel due to its location and amenities. During this trip I was personally down due to unexpected death of one of my furbabies, upcoming surgery and missing my grandmother at Christmas time whom has been in heaven for eight years now. Unbeknownst to me, I always book a 6 night stay for my trip. Somehow with everything on my mind, I must have selected 5 nights versus 6 for this trip. When I came to my room last night neither of my keys worked. I just assumed it was a issue with the key and went to the front counter for help. The gentleman looked up my room number and said he would take care of it in the back. He came back and said that they should work now. What he didn't tell me was that they had caught my mistake and extended my stay by another night. I had requested a 5am shuttle to the airport to get ahead of holiday travelers. The morning agent was Ethan whom advised me that he was new, he did an extremely good job of bring professional, personable and friendly. He let me know that he was the only one working the front desk at the moment and that he could not shuttle me to the airport. He told me not to worry and that the hotel would pay for an Uber to take me the airport. Talking about top notch service! Well, he was really trying hard to get the system to book the Uber, however it would not work. I then offered to book it myself and use my company card but Ethan was not having any of it. He said "Mr. Walker, I am going to book it through my personal Uber account and don't worry the hotel will reimburse me." I attempted to say it was not necessary and that I could pay for it but he booked it anyway. I thought that was so nice of him and I really appreciate his level of commitment and service to a customer. He didn't know it but he made my spirits lift and I am so thankful and blessed for that. Cindy if you are reading this, you hired a good one! Nicely done Ethan and keep up the good work! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 😊 God bless...
