Extremely Disappointing Stay – Would Not Recommend
I had one of the most unpleasant hotel experiences during my recent visit to Irvine. Here are the issues I faced during my stay:
Lack of Guidance at Check-In: Upon arrival, I was simply handed the room number—no information was provided about parking, directions, or amenities. There was active tree-cutting work blocking the road, but the hotel staff gave no alternate directions or assistance navigating the obstruction.
Unsafe and Unclean Environment: The hallway was cluttered with loose cables, equipment, and tools that posed a safety risk. When I entered the room, the bathroom was filthy—especially the wash basin, which I initially mistook as stained but later realized was just extremely dirty. Due to not feeling well, I avoided calling for immediate cleaning.
Payment Confusion and Rudeness: Around 5 PM, I received a call saying my company card was declined and I had to vacate the room. After involving my travel coordinator, it was confirmed that payment had already been made. However, the front desk staff was unhelpful and claimed the card wasn’t working, showing a clear lack of training or awareness.
Housekeeping Miscommunication: When I requested housekeeping, I was asked how many towels or sheets I needed. I explained I wanted the room cleaned and linens replaced. They failed to mention that I needed to be present, and since I was out, no cleaning was done that day.
Unclear Expectations from Housekeeping Staff: The next morning, housekeeping asked me what needed to be done, which was confusing. I asked them to do a full cleaning including changing the bedsheets, towels, and cleaning the bathroom. Only after specific instructions did they proceed.
Deceptive Water Bottles: The room had two water bottles labeled at $6 each. When I asked if they were complimentary, I was told no. It’s misleading to place them without any clear notice.
No Internet Access: Internet was completely down throughout my 3-day stay. I wasn’t able to connect at all, and this significantly impacted my work and overall experience.
In summary, the property was dirty, disorganized, noisy due to constant maintenance, and lacked basic guest services. I would strongly advise others to avoid this hotel at any cost. The experience was frustrating and far below...

Read moreSleep ON A HIGHWAY and NO FREE WIFI! Disgusting. Dirty. Vastly overpriced. I met a woman in the elevator. She asked me, "How do you like this hotel?" I told her it was dirty and old and WAY overpriced. She agreed. "I cried," she confided in me! I exclaimed, "I cried too!" LITERALLY. We both cried at the lack of assistance and terrible dirty conditions. The bellman SAW me crying, struggling with my bags and the many doors (without door stops) and the miles of hall I was required to traverse. Just serendipitous conversation, another guest also cried, the experience was so horrible and hostile! Imagine how many guests come & go without comment. This is a $370/nte room. Just go to Motel 6 for $60/nte. Cleaner. More helpful staff. Strong young men at Courtyard Irvine Hotel, though verbally friendly, REFUSED to help me, a senior, struggling with my bags. Refused. (My elevator comrade commented on this complete lack of assistance and service as well.) Too-precious, over-paid, non-human beings. I mean, young men sat there watching me struggling, hoisting heavy bags from car, dropping heavy valise, getting bruises. Cursing under my breath from the shock & pain. Just sat there, watching. Disgusting. Nothing short of Disgusting. I asked three times for a blanket. Nothing. A coffee pack to be delivered to my room. Nothing. Absolutely NO SERVICE OF ANY KIND! Additionally, feels as if you are sleeping ON A HIGHWAY. Terrible LOUD ALL NIGHT highway noise. Oh. And no wifi. I was told I'd have to PAY for wifi. I was gently insistent that this is ludicrous in our time. In lobby they finally got me wifi. Back in room: NO WIFI! Only wifi in lobby, unless you become a member for additional price, I was told. Did I mention this hotel is $370/nte? I was traveling all over Western US. I came to Irvine for a Retreat ( Amma.) I've slept in my car, and in hot high desert camps, and NOTHING was worse than this Irvine Hotel. And the hotel was the single costliest of all stays in almost 7 weeks of travel. I suggest renting a private cabin with hot spring & spa for that price. Irvine has absolutely...
