Sushi Taka — Restaurant in Irvine

I wanted to share some feedback regarding my recent experiences at your restaurant. Previously, I have always been able to call ahead to place my order before arriving, which saved me valuable time. However, last night, a waitress informed me that the chef no longer allows phone orders. Instead of waiting 20 minutes to place my order in person, I would much prefer the option to call ahead, as I have done in the past.

Additionally, I have noticed a significant issue with portion sizes when ordering through DoorDash. Each order consistently arrives with only four small pieces, yet two small orders cost $51. In comparison, other sushi restaurants provide 8 to 10 pieces per order at half the cost. This discrepancy in pricing and portion size is disappointing and has led me to reconsider my patronage.

Looks like a cool sushi spot in a busy center but one major flaw! I walked-in today at 11:25. Doors were open, signs were posted, therefore you'd think you can walk into a restaurant. After 2 minutes if standing there, two people walk out from the kitchen and go "ohhh we open at 11:30". So I turned around, apologized and walked out. As I was on my way out they changed their mind and tried to call me back in and take a seat. Guess what? Too late! This day and age, consumers have plenty of options especially in a busy center like this. You don't want people in? Don't open the doors and post your signs. If you do and a customer walks in, then be willing to accommodate without making a comment about your hours! Will spend my money where...

I went to sushi take when I was visiting my sisters and staying at the ac hotel across the street.

We wanted sushi on a Friday night so we walked over and were seated right away. No line or wait time. Waitress was patient and gave us time to look over the menu.

I ended up getting a spicy salmon type of roll, and my sister got the mango roll which she really enjoyed. That combination was really unique and I’ve rarely seen fruit in any of my sushi rolls.

Great service and great sushi! Will be back for sure. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I had to have gluten free so she brought me the gluten free soy sauce.
