I visited today with my family friends, we were very starving, and we thought of having good time and spend the evening having some decent food and ordered food around $160 dollars' worth, I am leaving the restaurant with such worst experience and a very huge disappointment. I'm extremely disappointed with the food quality, taste. neither of the feature in the food we ordered is worth some. finally, we are returning with the same empty stomach now. we are not worried about the money we spent but we came with starving, and we expect at least decent food to eat and have good time with our family since rarely we go and eat outside. but the once in a moment is completely ruined by your restaurant and i normally won't go for this review thing but your food quality is forcing me to write this review just to avoid an innocent person comes with starving stomach and return with empty stomach. I wish my review saves at least one person. i want to challenge the restaurant management which i ordered today to eat at least any one of the dishes which I ordered (I told them, I will pay the double amount for that because most of the Indian restaurant think we want reimbursements).

to restaurant management guys: people come at your restaurant with starving stomachs, we don't expect high class food, but at least decent food is lot more enough but when you guys leave this kind of poor and disgusting quality type of food you are totally unfit for this business and don't play with customers appetite. ...

Constructive Feedback from a Foodie:

I see a lot of potential in this place and want to help elevate the experience. Here are some pointers that could make a difference:

Mandi Rice: I enjoyed the rice, but the chicken should be roasted rather than frying it twice. Authentic mandi in Tolichowki includes tomato Salan and Paya on the side, a garlic mayo would have been nicer over plain one and you don't need cilantro.

Shawarma: The veggies (like carrots and cabbage) were dry. I'd prefer just cucumber with garlic-infused mayo for juiciness. Also swap the tortilla for fresh rumali roti/samolina bread. The salt and vinegar chips don’t complement the flavor and could be reconsidered. I literally trashed mine after first chip, fries would have been nicer, Shawarma Chicken Quality: The chicken flavor is great, but it needs to be roasted a bit longer for texture.

Jilebi Storage: Please store it in a cool, closed space for freshness, at 13$ a pound, I did not like how dry they were and left to open.

I understand this is in US and not tolichowki, but I want this place to be best so customers come back again for food over IG for one time. If you ever get an opportunity do try food at Mandar, Tolichowki, just small quality controls can make a huge difference to your food for the best.

For the price point ($33 for 2 PC mandi and $10 for shawarma), quality and freshness are key. I’m rooting for your success and hope to see these improvements so I can become a...

Heard a lot about this place and wanted to try it out since a long time. Ambience does a super job in replicating the Indian cafe feel. Speedy service. A large variety of food to choose from. Taste wise mediocre/ decent. We ordered irani chai (liked it), pani puri (disappointed, the flavored kick was missing from it), egg puffs (very tasty), chicken tandoori momo ( had huge expectations from this item. Expected soft-large sized momos, but they looked like the narrow fried ones which are available in grocery stores. However the red masala coating on top was the game changer and overall liked the flavor), chicken roll ( expected kathi roll like something which it wasn’t, but taste wise okayish), chicken fried rice (just color and absolutely no flavor). They had a large collection of pastries to choose from as well which I would like to try in next visit. A good funky place for some light snacks/appetizers (they tasted really good), better to avoid the main course.

Next visit: lesser crowd, quickly served. The chicken puff here is amazing. We ordered chicken Gongura appetizer but were served the gravy instead. They realized their mistake themselves shortly after and provided us the gravy dish (overall good but salt was more than usual) complimentary along with the actual Gongura chicken served. Fish chilly was good and spicy. Thus changing the rating from a 3 to 4 star. The Black Forest was very good and the texture similar to the pastries...

Desi District, Irving has the best Mandi in town. The food tastes amazing and the service is great. The meat is tender and the rice is full of flavor. The staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place for delicious Mandi and good service.

If you’re considering dining at Desi District at 6451 Riverside Dr #100, Irving, TX 75039, save your time and money. While the interior is impressive, the food is consistently disappointing—like Texas weather: occasionally good but mostly terrible. The pricing is absurd for the quality they provide. Think roadside cart quality at upscale restaurant prices. Not kid-friendly either, with no special menu for kids. Here’s what I ordered: 1. Chicken Hyderabadi Biryani: For $18, I got rice with two tiny chicken pieces. Taste was nowhere close to authentic Hyderabadi biryani. 2/10. 2. Goat Meat Mandi: For over $20, I got a big bone with hardly any meat, and what little meat there was, felt like chewing rubber. 1/10. 3. Malai Bun: Growing up in Mumbai, I know how this dish should taste, and this wasn’t it. It was just sweetened condensed milk stuffed into bread with an overload of sugar. Zero malai, zero authenticity. 0/10. After-sale experience: When I complained, the staff was dismissive. They reluctantly replaced the biryani but served the same poor-quality dish. No smiles, no apologies—just weird looks. My opinion: This place is only good for tea or fried snacks if you’re desperate for a crowded Indian café vibe. Otherwise, skip it. Overpriced food, indifferent staff, and poor service. Management needs to learn the standards of quality and customer service in the U.S. A visit from the health department wouldn’t hurt either. Big NO for food.
