I drove for an hour to dine at this location. When I walked in all the tables are empty and the lady asks, "Are you here to pick up?" So that already tells me that they prefer 'takeout' orders. I sat at a table near the counter which wobbled so badly I thought I would spill my drink and I had to move to another table. All the tables were streaky, and filmy, and covered with food debris around the edges especially, that seemed like it had come from wiping the tables off with a dirty rag. I made the mistake of visiting the bathroom which was clogged up, and disgusting as it obviously had not been cleaned all day. When I exited the bathroom, I noticed a weird smell like a floor cleaner which they use to try to create some type of aromatic screen from the bathroom to the dining area, but it really doesn't work because the area is so open, and very near the bathroom. It just seems like the smell of the bathroom permeates the atmosphere. Then as I sat there waiting, I noticed a smear of food on the door that leads to the kitchen, and it wasn't recent. It looks like they can't seem to pass through the door without wiping food all over it apparently, and then not cleaning it afterwards. The guy who brought me my plate had been there chatting with the hostess, picking his nose, and rubbing his eyes and face without washing his hands before he handled my food. Not only did he touch my dishes, but he also was involved with the preparation of my food. For example, I order the cashew stir fry dish, and after the cook had prepared it, the waiter just sprinkled a few fresh cashews over the top of the stir fry. I didn't think that was a very authentic way to prepare the pad cashew stir fry. I want the cashews to be included with the food and cooked, not just sprinkled over the top afterwards. Not to mention, I had just watched this guy picking his nose before touching my plate, and then sprinkling the nuts over the top. It made me not want to touch it at all. If this is how dirty the place is in front of the house, I would hate to think what it is like in the back of the house. When they brought the plate, I got up immediately and went to the counter. Instead of asking me why I hadn't touched my food, the lady asked me if I am ready to pay. Then, when I complain and ask for the manager's name and number, she wouldn't tell me anything. I have never before gone out to a place, ordered, and then sat there and waited, and then not been able to touch my food. Yummy Thai Irving is quite possibly the worst, dirtiest restaurant I have ever been to. Quite different from the other location that I frequently enjoy. I really regret going out of my way to try this new location. It was a...
Read moreWas not going to write this but owner is rude and lady working in front does not care. I WOULD RECOMMEND 🇹🇭“THAI ORCHID”🇹🇭 WHERE FOOD IS MUCH BETTER IN TASTE AND SERVICE TOO. Not worth going, ordered food @55.56pm and told that pickup will be @6.40pm. Reached there @6.40pm sharp and the. The owner was not able to find ticket and said there is no order. Then front desk lady came and she said didn’t print ticket because order pickup was 6.40pm and she will print the ticket so that kitchen can start making order. THEN WHATS THE POINT OF CALLING UPFRONT FOR THE ORDER! At first owner said I’ll makeup (give something) don’t worry, so that I can pay for the order. All this took 10 mins more and the 7 mins to prepare order, all in all 20 mins inspite of ordering over the phone. NO COURTESY AT ALL. Then order was packed and I asked what did you gave me extra and then owner real face came up saying no I didn’t say anything like that and no eye contact whatsoever and being rude by ignore and talking bs. Then the front lady was like we make order when customer come and pay for it, again then why do you have phone there or mention it over the phone that order will be prepared once you pay. Order was for $30 hardly 2 tables occupied 2 orders for take in front of me They were not busy at all that they forgot about the order. Gave 1 star for food because I paid extra for chicken but in pad Thai there was hardly 6 pieces of shredded chicken and yellow curry had more potatoes than chicken. I was standing there and saw how they fill rice from pot with their bare hand and cup BUT NO GLOVES, so throw the rice when I reached home. Saw owner cleaning tables and then filling rice with same hands...
Read moreI read all the glowing reviews and really was looking forward to trying this place. I'm a huge fan of Thai food, and they're close by, so seemed like stars were aligned. Guess not.
Ordered by GrubHub and was quoted ~60 minutes to deliver. Given that the restaurant is less than 3 miles away, I figured that would be plenty of time.
Fast forward an hour. I call. I give my name 3 times and my address twice and my order number several times as well. I'm told my order cannot be found. I press a bit since my kids are getting upset - it's well past their dinner time. Then I'm told my order is out for delivery some time ago. I press again because this seems completely made up. Everyone on the other end of the line seems confused. I'm told that the driver is on his way, so I take their word for it. GrubHub magically updates "out for delivery" as soon as I hang up.
Fast forward another 30 minutes. The driver, who was supposedly coming to my place since before the last time I called is still not here, even though it's a 5 minute drive. I call back to cancel. I'm told that they'll update my record as canceled once the manager comes in. I guess I'll have to wait and see if I get my money back.
Finally, I understand that mistakes happen. If this all gets resolved, I'll update the rating. If not I guess I call American Express and then hop on social media to inform as many more people as possible as to this...
