The place had very tasty and fresh food but the restaurant interior ...particularly the men's restroom... left a lot to be desired. The atmosphere is extremely simple and understated. Can get noisy when the lunch crowd is there and everyone is trying to talk over the music / music videos playing through the television in the front right corner of the dining area.
The one staff member I interacted with was polite but seemed to have little interest in answering my questions (considering I was new to the establishment) because she had something else she was doing and/or engrossed in just back inside the kitchen prep area out of immediate view from register. I (as well as the lady who came in shortly after me) noticed it took a good solid minute or 2 of me just standing at the register / order area before the staff member noticed my presence and popped up front to take my order.
I did not expect edimame in my chicken teriyaki and it was neither mentioned by my order taker, nor was it listed in the list of ingredients for the dish. When I took my 3rd or 4th bite of the steamed veggies I failed to recognize the edimame...instead assuming it was snow peas....BIG MISTAKE! Anyone who has tried to eat edimame (outter pod and all) has discovered that the pod will NOT chew up, but rather it is intensely rough and consists of very tough strands of densely interwoven cellulose (think corn husks)....you have no choice but to spit it out! There's no chewing & no swallowing. Which if you're ill prepared for it, might just ruin your appetite much like the shock of SUDDENLY CHOMPING on huge chunk of gristle or bone fragment in a hamburger or BBQ sandwich.
I finished my meal....much more precautiously than at first and overall I think I'd return to Lohas if I were in the area & in the mood for Asian food for lunch again. I WOULDN'T seek this place out or make a special trip solely for the...
Read moreI came here as recommended by Google and Lohas does live up to its reviews. On the possivites the food comes out as advertised and is decent Japanese food and as I have never been this is based on my American taste. I ordered the dragon role because I like onagi (fresh water eel) and the chicken and beef teriyaki plate. The sushi was excellent; it was what I expected and did not leave me wanting. The teriyaki tasted as you would expect with a nice char. My problems start with the sauce. It was a sesame sauce that tasted more like slightly over heated sesame oil than a nice glaze leaving a strong taste on the back of my tongue. The wrapping on the egg role was too thick necessitating the longer cook time and leaving the vegetables inside soft bordering on mushy. The slaw could use another name because a pile of shredded cabbage and carrots with two large chunks of semi translucent tomatoes covered in spicy mayo does not pass in my book as a slaw. The rice was ok. I can't fault them for their in ability to aquire top grade short grain rice. The service was ok also. I ordered to eat here and was expecting to have my food brought to me due to the lack of patrons and the small size of this location but was disappointed. As far as price it could be a hair cheaper. I paid 20 bucks for two dishes and a drink and would of felt much better if I had come in around 15 for the quality of food and service. Over all I would give this location a 3.5 out of 5 and would recommend it for a meal once in a while but I would like to explore a bit more before deciding to come back here. Sorry if a put a damper on anyone's plans but I'm a...

It really says a lot about a person when they go out of their way to help you.I appreciate this place so much.I will forever be...
