Went to eat, play bingo & meat raffle. I had the shrimp Basket & it was terrific. 4 shrimp & lotsa fries. Mom had potato skins & they were quite dry with 'very' little of the filling that's inside of each one. (Bacon & cheese i think it was) with 1 sm package of sour cream. We ordered a 2nd pack of sour cream but we were done eating by the time it got to us. The side salad was good. Also ordered a like grilled beef sandwich with Aue juice ( can't spell the juice name) but it was very good. It's like a grilled cheese but with thinly sliced roast beef. Not much food for the cost of that meal. We were excited to play bingo since it had been many years since the last time. It wasn't at all like we remembered. Quirky figurations of bingo & there was no one to explain how to play till the 3rd game & then she was quite short with our table of 4. When getting our pack of bingo sheets she was so quick to take the money, she'd grabbed an extra $20 & she rushed us through the line when we told her what she'd done. If it wasn't going to a good cause we'd have argued it a lot further, but my husband said the money goes to the Vets & that is a good cause. They do a lot of side talking during each game & without a moniter to show what's been called. It wasn't fun at all. It seemed that the regulars were treated like gold & the newbys got pushed to the side. One lady had a bingo & the callers went so fast she didn't get any winnings for it cuz they'd already paid it out to one of the regulars. That was rude. I'm not sure I'd recommend going to the VFW in Isanti to anyone. I ordered the Rasberry cake (this was my 2nd time & I was very disappointed. It was half the size of the 1st time I ordered it & the hole thing was dried out even the frosting. Not worth the $8 I paid for it at all. Plus it took 25 minutes for it to get to me. I went to the bar to get it Not sure...
Read moreI have always felt they could do so much more with the place. There is an INSANE lack of competition for night time dining/drinking in isanti. Nowhere within 10 miles is open after 9pm, but the ambiance/decorating/vibe needs some work so they can actually capitalize on that lack of competition. I live 1/4 mile away and like to go out on weekends, but only go there maybe twice a year because it's just not really much of a place to hang out. My 25-35 year old friends feel the same way. Angie is great and the rest of the staff is usually pretty good in my experience. The food is average for a bar. They are active with planning events it seems. The prices are fair. I hope they consider taking the time to redecorate because that's really all they need to kick through some serious business. If they redecorated, painted, or did something a bit more updated/hip with the place, I would give it a 4.5* rather...
Read moreI was in town visiting an old friend and he recommended this place so we could catch up over drinks and snacks. Not only did I feel welcomed, I was very impressed with the service! Our waitress was Makaylah. She had the perfect balance when it came to attentiveness! Our drinks were never empty, we never felt ignored, and we were able to chat with each other without feeling rushed or interrupted. She also convinced me to try poutine for the first time! I loved it! If I ever try it again and it doesn't taste like this I don't want it. Service really does make or break the experience, and Makaylah definitely made it worth the visit. I hope she's still here next time I can make it...
