âââââ A Florida Keys Classic â Ice Cream with a Side of Personality
Mr. Câs isnât just an ice cream shop. Itâs a whole experience. The second you walk in, youâre hit with old-school vibes; vintage signs, a toy train behind the counter, handwritten notes, and a flavor list that seems to go on forever.
I had Butterfinger, Butter Pecan, and Rum Raisin. All three were super creamy and packed with flavor. You can tell this place takes pride in the ice cream.
Mr. C is 83 and still holding it down with quick wit and lots of character. Some folks may not know what to make of him at first, but trust me, itâs part of the charm. He has strong opinions and isnât afraid to share them. While I was there, a kid asked for a milkshake with two flavors that didnât really go together, and Mr. C (paraphrasing) said, âThose donât go good together.â It wasnât rudeâjust honest and kind of amusing. He reminded me of that character from Seinfeld (the âSoup Naziâ). I donât love the name, but thatâs what the character is called. Mr. C is kind of the Florida Keys versionâquirky, straightforward, and totally memorable.
Bring cash if you can to avoid the card fee, and take a minute to really enjoy the place. Mr. Câs is one of those spots that sticks with you.
âYou havenât been to the Keys until you visit Mr. Câsâ...
Read moreHi, this is Mr. C. I'd like to comment on all the people who post reviews that are favorable about my product. I'm very grateful that they believe in a product that's made all natural, a product I created 42 years ago. My customers made my product what it is today. I would also like to like address a review made by a gentleman about my political point of view. The reviewer commented on the political pictures that I have decided to display at my location, specifically the Kennedy brothers, When I was 18, during my service, John Kennedy was my Commander in Chief. I have great admiration for what he stood for as far as protecting and caring for his people under his command while on PT 109 and his courageous plot to rescue his fellow soldiers. And the other brother, Teddy, fought for affordable healthcare for all Americans, and Robert Kennedy was murdered because he was going to follow in his brother's footsteps. I hope this clarifies the inquiry about my political views. As a business owner and a believer in free speech, I believe it is my right to display items of...
Read moreGotta start by saying I did NOT end up eating at the establishment. Didn't even go inside. This review is not about the product. Why would a business owner choose to alienate half the potential client base by displaying political opinions? I am a business owner myself and I donât understand. I donât even think about politics when working with my clients. We are all entitled to our own views but displaying our opinions on our place of business is at best unprofessional and at worst simply rude. Political unrest surrounds our country. An ice cream shop is the last place I want to be accosted by politics.
Also posted was the statement that there was no need to offer samples due to business longevity blah blah blahâŚI donât want to sample ice cream to see how good it is. I taste to decide which flavor I want to spent $8 on!
We pulled up to a store we thought was closed â no one there â read the signs âyou arenât wanted hereâ and went 2 miles down the road to the very crowded Key Largo Chocolates and Ice Cream and ate some of the best ice cream...
