Upon entering the Bollywood Indian Restaurant, it looked like a fancy restaurant. Many tables, but few customers. There was no sign about waiting to be seated. The cash register counter is in the back of the restaurant, so that is where the employees were. We were seated fairly promptly after they noticed us waiting at the entrance. Upon ordering our meal, we found out that rice and bread are NOT included in the meal. The meal is really just a bowl of the meat in curry sauce, or however it is prepared. So we had to order rice and bread separately. We couldn't just eat the meat and sauce by itself.
I am giving the food 4-stars, as it was tasty, but nothing better than other Indian restaurants that we have eaten at. I am giving the atmosphere 3-stars because we could not understand why the dining room was not decorated to reflect Bollywood. Maybe that is our misunderstanding.
I am giving the service 2-stars because, although it was good to start, it ended in confusion. There were 2 waiters. The one who brought our bill, asked that we pay cash. Keep in mind that this was not a small amount of money spent. I preferred to pay with a credit card, but he insisted that if I had the cash, that it would help him. Then, after paying cash, he would not let us keep the receipt. Also, when he put the food in the containers, it was tipped, and we found the sauce ran out of the container into the bag. Thankfully, he did put them in a bag.
So 3-stars overall, because it is too expensive for the small portions, and should, at least, include the rice. Being asked to pay cash, if paying by credit card is available, is inconvenient for the customer, and should be expected as a way of doing business.
If you don't mind paying more for less, since the food was tasty, then please visit...
Read moreFood was good but it is almost $6 for a side of rice that's complimentary anywhere else. Nothing too outstanding that I can't get anywhere else.
Service gets two stars only because the man who took our order was extremely nice and helpful. We saw him twice.
Upon being seated, we asked to sit at a table to the side, but were told there were reservations. This was at 8:30pm, one other table walked in after we did. Weird. Bad vibes after that but nothing too off with ordering and receiving our food.
We got our boxes but were still finishing up. The initial server then started to clear my plate as I was eating off it. I had to tell him I was not done eating. No apologies to me for it.
Then comes the bill, we were still chatting and not ready to settle up yet. Same server comes and picks up the check folder yet we had nothing in it. He looked at us as if we did something wrong. We asked if they were closing soon, he said no but we needed to pay, yet could stay and talk. As soon as we signed the check, he promptly picked up the receipt. The server who took our order did say goodbye and was very nice.
For a place that opened up across the street from a similar restaurant that's been around for nearly 20 years, I'd expect a better experience. I'll be going back to the other place next time I want...
Read moremy mom and i wanted lunch on new years eve, but we wanted to try someplace New, so we found this spot on google maps and Oh my gosh.
the service 10/10 i loved the host and the servers, very attentive very nice very helpful. the host was Super talkative and liked to tell stories, but we were the only people there (1pm on a tuesday holiday as they opened) i think an entertainer like him will feel more comfortable with a full house
the atmosphere is lacking but it's a brand new establishment, give them a minute to settle in and i'll be back to change my review
the food. is so good. we got the chicken bhurna, chicken korma, chicken makhani, and the fish coconut curry. i am STARVING just thinking about it, the fish was so tender and beautiful, the naan was amazing, the basmati rice was perfect, the sauces were delicious. you can order 12oz of just the sauce, and a standard entree comes with rice and naan. tbh i didn't like the pistachio ice cream and the rice pudding was OK, but whatever those little ball things were, i need more of them. the mango lassi was top tier too, and i'll be getting the indian tea again.
i'll be back in a few days. god i wish they were open before noon (no i don't, i'd put on...
