Los Portales — Restaurant in Jackson

My Husband and I stopped at Los Portales last night on our way home after a long day. We were both starving and ready to eat. We are new to the area and this is the first Mexican Restaurant we have been to since moving here. We got the Enchiladas Suizas and the Fajitas for one. We'll we ate and came home and went to bed. It's now 8:41 the next morning and We are paying for it. We are both extremely sick with stomach cramps and food poisoning symptoms. As I type this, I'm regretting every bite. It's very unfortunate because the food was okay. I will say mine was very good. However, the Fajitas was honestly the worst Fajitas we have ever had at a resturaunt. I hate having to say that but it's the truth. That's how bad it was. Not enough veggies. Overcooked meat. No seasoning. They didn't add olive oil or something when they cooked it It was dry and definitely not what you would expect. The 2 tortillas were way to big for Fajitas and over microwaved. Stuck together and dried out and we couldn't get them apart. "Maybe"... it was a bad night for the cook on the Fajitas side of things and as far as being very sick , that was the first thing I'd ate all day. So I know that's what made me sick when I woke up in the middle of the night. Very disappointed. We spent $20 a person. After drinks and a tip. We most likely won't return after getting very sick. Which sucks. 😞 it's very irritating to spend that kind of money on only 2 dinner plates and get so sick and be so...

First off, the food my friend and I had was good and we had our order in and food delivered to our table in less than 10 minutes. It was the rudeness of the server in rushing us out of there that gets the less than stellar review. My friend and I had met for lunch and we had almost finished with our food. The server brings the ticket. I stopped her and requested that the ticket be split, and she made a face like she wasn’t stoked about splitting the check. She brings them back and lets us know whenever we’re ready we can pay up front. After a few moments, I see her looking over in our direction, and I was wanting a to go drink. I could see servers pushing tables together for a large party around us, and that was fine. About five minutes after she dropped the checks, she came back over and said I don’t want to rush you, but we need your table to seat a larger party. There was no, I see you guys are still snacking and visiting, can we move you to a booth and use this table. Just a basic “get up and leave” request. Poor...

Food is always good but we usually go as a group of 6 or more. We are continually seated with the more mature (age only!) female waitress. She is the least attentive and most careless of the wait staff. After every Sunday dining for over a year, I dare say she's having a bad day. She took 5 of our identical drink glasses with identical beverages to the back for refills. My guest and I removed our straws to insure we got "our" glasses back. She came back with 4 glasses with different beverage refills. When I told her I didn't have the beverage she brought, she went into the kitchen, returned with a glass with the beverage I originally ordered but the glass had an opened straw in it. When I told her it wasn't my glass, she went around the corner of the kitchen to flip the straw in the floor and returned to with the exact same glass immediately.
