Listen, I know this placed is ultra hyped up and receives plenty of stellar reviews. This was my experience: I called at 4:00 to make a reservation for 7:30 this Saturday. It was our 6-year anniversary. We got there on time and marveled at the cozy (albeit chilly) and dimly-lit modern industrial atmosphere. However, we were actually seated in a separate room to the right of the main restaurant area that is clearly supposed to be used for larger parties. There was a table of 30 people to our left and another table of 30 to our right that arrived as we were eating. We were the only 2-top in the room. It was very loud. The room was lit with intensely bright LED lighting that would make Margo Robbie look hideous. It was even colder in there vs. the main area (poor insulation, maybe?). Our waitress was very sweet and as attentive as she could be with having us and the 30-top yo take care of. She suggested the crawfish fondue, stating Food Network labeled it one of the best dips in the country. It tasted like overly-salted melted velveeta cheese, and I found one tiny crawfish tail in it. Total. I got the shrimp and grits and was overwhelmed again by the salt content. My husband (who loves salt!) echoed my sentiment. He got the short rib with hasherrole, which was much better, though the portion sizes for both of our meals were pretty small for the price. All in all, I was incredibly underwhelmed. With the exception of our server being so nice, I didn’t find much else worth revisiting again. Definitely ask for a table in the main dining area, if you go. Don’t waste $17 on the fondue. Don’t order the shrimp & grits unless you want your blood pressure...
Read moreI was visiting a friend in Jackson and he asked me to pick up dinner from here. I am very happy he did. I had a bit of difficulty picking my sandwich as they were all looking very appetizing. In the end I picked the Q-pine and the Cicero for my friend. I also ordered the Veg-E-Mite because I was not sure about the portion size. The portion sizes were perfect by the way. I got the combos for the Q-pine and the Cicero. The fries were well seasoned steak cut fries. If you eat in restaurant, they have hot sauce available as well.
My friend and I switched sandwich halves and I am so glad we did. I got to eat both sandwiches and they were excellent. The Q-pine pork cutlets and the bacon where perfectly cooked and delicious, and the bread was toasted and buttered perfectly. The Cicero crispy Parmesan chicken was also excellent. And the Cibatta bread was nice and soft.
Not to mention all the toppings that came on both sandwiches complimented them extremely well.
On a side note, we ate our sandwiches about 20 minutes after ordered as it was a to go order, but the consistency of the sandwich was still spot on. I can only imagine how it would have been if I was able to eat it at the restaurant.
The portions were spot on, so I took the Veg-E-Mite sandwich home. My sister got hungry and ate it. It smelled delicious and she said it tasted just as good.
If I am in the area again, I will definitely stop by. I highly recommend...
Read moreI would highly recommend not going to this place ever! I would give zero stars If I could. The server Jason was the rudest person I have ever encountered and he found a way to have an attitude about every single interaction with us. We all could tell he was less than enthusiastic that we were there. We waited an hour for food and the server had the audacity to offer a table of 4 one free dessert to share. He stated he couldn’t do all four desserts because the owner would be out of $40. We are health care professionals and were out of 2 hours! After he offered dessert, he went to the kitchen, threw a temper tantrum and cursed us out very loudly and nasty to his manager/owner for asking about our own separate dessert. The hardly responsive owner came to our table and was just as unprofessional as the rude server and offered no real resolution. Absolutely shocking customer service as the server stated to us he was in the heat of the moment. Unacceptable for him not to be able to control his emotions in front of customers. We were truly baffled as to why he felt the need to treat us so badly. The only way I’ll go back to this place is to get my money back. Go anywhere...
