Historic, clean, fast courteous service (at 3 in the afternoon on my sole visit). The hamburgers are not greasy and fresh and mild tastng, which is a nice change from the heavy, oily, highly seasoned burgers that are common in many diners. The standard burger appears to be roughly 1/5 lb. which is just right for a nice single or a big, but not too big double. The burgers are cooked on a flat top but not cooked to the crunchy state. My burger was done perfectly, medium, juicy, tender and not overdone. They have a house "Everything Sauce" that is mustard, pickle relish and fresh chopped onion. It's very much the kind of dressing a hamburger would have gotten in 1927, the year they opened. They make french fries from fresh potatoes, so they aren't very crispy (fresh cut fries never are), but they are natural. They offer vinegar with the fries which is unusual for a hamburger place, but it's good. I saw too late that they advertise fresh baked pies too, so I'll be back with a big appetite for another hamburger and some pie next time. If you like hamburger history, this is the...
Read moreOkay this place SLAPS. I called ahead to ask if they had a veggie burger, and they were like “um no,” and the way they said it was kind of hilarious, as if to say, “Honey, we serve MEAT burgers here.” Once I got to the cool little spot - the way it’s laid out encourages patrons to talk to each other, and I had several nice interactions with other diners during my visit - I ordered a deluxe single hamburger with a 1/4 order of fries (it was PLENTY of food) and a bottled water. Making your burger “deluxe” adds a dollar to your total, and it adds lettuce, tomato and mayo to your burger. I added ketchup to my burger once it got to me, too. And my food got to me FAST! I was astonished. That cook was super efficient, and everything was cooked perfectly and absolutely DELICIOUS.
I couldn’t help but get a piece of peanut butter chocolate pie after my meal. Holy cow, it was so good. Apparently they get new pies in every Wednesday. By the way, the service was great, and I had a fantastic time. I highly recommend this...
Read moreThis place has been around for many, many years, and they still have the absolute BEST BURGER in the County, if not the State! I just had one a few days ago, and my Mouth is already Salivating for more of that deliciousness! I don't know of anything they have there, that isn't real good, including things like their deep fried Cauliflower! I just had a piece of Banana Cream Pie from there too, and although they don't make the Pies there, it was still very fresh and delicious! Plus, when I was there a few days ago, that was the first time in well over a year, and I was very impressed with how CLEAN the place was (it even Smelled Clean). All the Girl's working at the time looked very professional and had on Clean clothes, and were wearing rubber gloves, something that's not always common place in Restaurants these days! I'm definitely NOT saying this place is "perfect", because No place is, but it's one of few, VERY FEW, Food places that I would say deserves...
