We live in Parma, so going to this DQ is a bit out of our way but we still like to make the occasional stop for their ice cream. Today a gentleman waited on us who had a safety pin for an earring. He was pleasant enough. We were ordering four items, and one was a triple chocolate Blizzard but he made it with vanilla ice cream when we wanted chocolate (though one might ASSUME they would use chocolate because...triple chocolate). Another item we ordered was the Royal Rocky Road Blizzard. If you purchase Rocky Road Ice Cream it is made with chocolate ice cream and has both marshmallows AND ALMONDS in it. With this knowledge, I ordered one for myself and my daughter who has a PEANUT allergy (not a deadly one, but enough that we need to carry an epi pen with us). I gave her her item, and when I got mine I saw a peanut in it. I asked the gentleman why it was there, and he informed me they have always used peanuts. I was quite confused because Rocky Road elsewhere is made with almonds and I pointed this out. He again stated they've always made them with peanuts. I informed him my daughter has a peanut allergy and that they should clearly state it is made with PEANUTS. He said the sign points that out. I literally had to almost put my nose on the window in order to see the exceptionally tiny print (that was partially covered by another poster!) to see that it, indeed, is made with peanuts. My other daughter had to run and grab the offending Blizzard before she could eat any of it!
He did made an Oreo Blizzard (at no charge) and cleaned the machine because it had come into contact with peanuts; which I appreciate. However, being there are SO MANY NUT ALLERGIES out there, DQ needs to make these notices VERY clear. Tiny print should not be acceptable. On a treat like Rocky Road people expect almonds - not peanuts.
Unfortunately, he messed up all our orders and because of the nut issue we will not be returning here. Again, DQ should require items with nuts to be very clearly and vividly marked so that people don't make this mistake. Someone could lose a life if their allergy is...
Read moreMy granddaughter is autistic and loves computers. She watches a lot of "mashup" videos on YouTube. When the wonderful server asked what she would like, Emmelia immediately stated"well, I'd like a monster mashup of cookie dough,Oreo cookies, with rainbow sprinkles on top!" The cute server said with a big smile," Okay, no problem." No extra charges for extra or multiple added ingredients... and not even a tentative flinch as she accepted Emme's order, and then served it with a gracious smile. I've been a customer at this place since well before my my son was born 35 yrs ago and now I have the pleasure of taking my granddaughter. Our whole family loves this place. It's a tasty tradition! The service is always good and so is...
Read moreThis is a small Dairy queen right in town. It's location is not the best by any means. It is right before a stop light and there is no parking lot for the location but you can park on the street which can be tricky. They only serve Ice-cream here not a full service Dairy Queen with food. They do have some outdoor seating in the back of their store. This being the only Dairy Queen it is usually always busy so expect to wait to get your ice-cream but the employees work fast and are usually always nice. Price wise expect to pay...
