Sol Azteca serves fantastic Tex-Mex food and the wait staff is incredibly attentive.

I never understand the rating for atmosphere. Surely the answer depends on what kind of atmosphere you want. If you want to impress someone on a romantic first date, I wouldn't recommend Sol Azteca. If you want a very friendly neighborhood atmosphere, you've come to the right place. I gave it three stars in order to be neutral.

My friend and I were antiquing in Jackson and looked on Google for nearby Mexican restaurants. Sol Azteca had good reviews, so off we went. We aren't familiar with Jackson and, despite the Google map lady, drove by Sol Azteca three times before we found it--it is that small and unassuming.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted warmly. It was the kind of place where everyone seemed to know each other, but we as strangers were not treated with indifference (as has been my experience in some places) but as friends no one had met yet.

I asked the young waiter for recommendations and really enjoyed everything we received. I had never had Mexican street corn before and loved it. We made the mistake of ordering a cheese quesadilla before dinner, and while it was very good, it was also huge. In fact, all of the dishes were enormous. No matter how large your appetite, I assure you that when you leave Sol Azteca you will be full. I boxed at least 3/4 of my meal to take home.

But of course I still had a dessert. Again at the waiter's recommendation, I ordered something best described (buy a non-Spanish speaker) as a mango ice sundae with chili powder. The mango ice was made in house and still had big chunks of mango in it. It was light and refreshing and to me at least unusual. I always love to try new things and I'm delighted when they turn out to be good.

Finally, the waiters were top notch. We had two different young men asking if we needed anything without once being intrusive. They were both very friendly and seemed happy to explain the dishes to me in detail.

Next time I'm in Jackson I'll certainly visit Sol Azteca again. I haven't even tried...

Our first time here and boy were we pleasantly surprised with the best Mexican food in Jackson. I normally just get street tacos, but was feeling sad for some reason, it was so good and I am so glad I wanted it. My wife and son got street tacos and pounded them. My wife says these beat our previous favorite and I have to agree. We also had the queso dip and it was so good (double dip it with their house salsa!). I had a double espresso to drink and my wife had a taro frappe, both were flawless. The presentation on the food was perfect and the radishes were surprisingly great with Mexican food, didn't know that!

Will I come back? Probably next week and the week after that and so on. One of the owners talked to us at the table for a few minutes and he was nothing but genuinely kind and full of smiles. You should come here and get some good authentic Mexican food, you will not be...

Sol Azteca is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, Roberto and the entire staff made us feel welcome with their warmth and professionalism. The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive.

Now, the food—simply outstanding! We started with the Mexican street corn, which was packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. The beef tacos were delicious, and the steak fajitas were truly to die for—tender, juicy, and bursting with bold, authentic flavors. The torta was equally fantastic, and the espresso drinks were a perfect way to round out the meal.

The portions were generous, and every bite was full of rich, fresh flavors. If you’re looking for an amazing dining experience with incredible Mexican cuisine, Sol Azteca is the place to go. We can’t wait...

This spot may take the number one spot for most authentic Mexican food in Jackson Michigan. Just based on their 'street tacos' or traditional style tacos with tortillas de maize onion and cilantro. The tacos were delicious and well seasoned, the tortillas were fresh and the salsa was delicious. And weren't too greasy which can happen at some restaurants with this style of taco. I had one taco de asada and one al pastor . Both were really good. Beans and rice we both done well. I will definitely be back to try more of their food. Service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere could use some sprucing up but with delicious food I don't think the atmosphere matters much.
