Toro Loco — Restaurant in Jackson

It has been a long time since I'd been here so this really was a nice supper for the three of us.

Crowded! Great service, attentive, not pushy, professional, observant.

Clean! The bathroom was extremely clean and the restaurant was slammed.

FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD.....Not bad. I admit that I'm a Mexican food snob after traveling the globe.

I ordered Enchiladas Rancheras, 3 Cheese Enchiladas with rice. Temperature was hot at service, presentation appealing. The rice was ok, not much flavor but more al dente and that's my preference.

Enchiladas were really full, lots of flavor...I asked for the hottest sauce because there was zero KICK to salsa.

The chips/salsa...There was no way the chips were made there fresh...no flavor, basket of broken chips like you'd find in the bottom of a chip bag. Chips were not warmed.

Yucky, yucky Chili Relleno....looked good until I cut into it and it was packed with flavorless hamburger (like the kind some restaurants receive in large 5' bags) and a tomato-type sauce....NO CHEESE INSIDE.

For me, I'd never order the Relleno again.

I walked away angry at myself for not asking if they have corn tortillas vs the flour tortillas they served...

Horrible food and experience!! We went on a Sunday at 2:00 pm. They were not busy, there were 2 other tables besides ours. No sign saying “wait to be seated” or “seat yourself.” We waited 5 minutes before flagging someone down to ask what to do. The waitress then seated us and took our drink orders. We had to ask for menus when she came back with drinks. She then let us know someone else would be taking care of our table. I never found out who exactly our server was, since anytime that we needed anything, I had to flag down whoever was closest. I ordered a chicken taco, they brought beef, then acted annoyed when I gave it back. Food was edible but mediocre. The chicken in my taco was boiled and had no flavor at all. My daughters chimichanga was warm on the outside, cold on the inside, which made sense when I saw them rehearing food in the microwave in the kitchen. Not worth the $45 for 4 people to eat!!! Such a shame, I wanted to like this place because Jackson is about the half way point on trips to visit family snd we usually love Mexican. Do yourself a favor and just run to Taco Bell if you’re in the mood...

I just sat down and was mocked for ordering a water, by my waiter Vincent... not friendly at all. He is a silent judgmental type. I was as polite as possible so he wouldn't spit in my food but any time I asked a question of him he had a sneer that he quickly hid and gave the fakest smile as if to say he hates his job and everyone he needs to deal with on a daily basis. The salsa I was given was room temperature and flavorless. When I ordered my food he felt the need to correct my proper pronunciation of what I ordered and repeated it back to me with the English pronunciation with a an accent as if to tell me to stay in my lane....got to love the ones who think all gringos can't understand another language and proceeds to speak as if it were never an option.
