Update, July, 2023. Takeout order. Personnel just standing around shooting the breeze. Food sat more than 20 minutes getting cold. Wife went in to get the curbside food and had to look for someone to find the already packaged food waiting to be taken out but no one was doing their job or making an effort to get the food to the car. Even the baked potato was stone cold by the time it got home. For that price? Hire a manager to be on duty. Clearly none was present tonight or personnel wouldn't be goofing off throughout the store and it WAS NOT busy. Maybe the service is why? Food was less than carefully prepared this time at the Regency Jacksonville location. Previous review, from 7 years ago, follows: My family has made a tradition of visiting Cracker Barrel restaurants when traveling along the roadways of America. Visiting these theme restaurants is such a tradition that when we eat at our nearby Regency Cracker Barrel in Jacksonville it usually feels like the family is on vacation. For ambience that speaks to my more rural America roots; where farmers and small town folk make deals on a handshake and the decor takes you back to a simpler time of good cooking and families eating together, Cracker Barrel can be beat.. The home cooked meals are always predictable and tasty and every member of the family finds something they like. Our young guy is only just in double digits so the kids menu is important to him. Chicken strips, mac and cheese, or even a grilled cheese sandwich will keep him happy. The older kids go for the adult fare and veggies at the dinner hour, but my favorite is the all day breakfast selection. With whimsical names like Grandma's Sampler and Old Timer's Breakfast you get delicious and filling meals made of eggs, meats, hash browns, grits for us southerners, and some of the finest biscuits and milk gravy I've eaten since my grandma made them by hand in the Carolinas. The old country store theme is all American. You'll find old time soda in glass bottles and candies only someone in their 50's and above can truly appreciate for the childhood memories they bring back. My kids love the toys, my wife loves the fashions, and I love the candies and home decor and gifts. Personnel are always friendly and welcoming. The manager is usually keeping a watchful eye on the restaurant service and believe me that makes a difference. You can tell the staff and management cares about your experience. From the rocking chairs and games of checkers on the front porch to the "y'all come again" when you leave the Cracker Barrel country store theme works. Step back into a simpler time and enjoy good home cooked food as often as you can. Cracker Barrel is a home...
Read moreHonestly. CrackerBarrel ruined Thanksgiving for us. It was already kind of sad because my wife is going through chemo and couldnt go but wanted the rest of us to go eat...Crackerbarrel actually made it a worse day.... We sat down to eat at 130pm. The server told us they were already out of several Thanksgiving sides and would have to substitute some items. This would be the last time we ever saw our server the entire time we were there.
After about 45 minutes the server had not returned and I couldnt find him anywhere. I had to ask another server from a different section to check on our food. When they brought the food it was a severe disappointment to say the least. The Thanksgiving day dinner looked nothing like the menu pictures. It was sad. You could tell they were rationing the portions to avoid running out of everything. There was a couple of thin broken slices of Turkey with cold gravy. A tiny little piece of stuffing that was so dry we couldnt eat it anyway. No greenbeans, no sweet potato casserole...out. They didnt bring the substitute sides we ordered. And still no server.
Finally I had to go stand by the kitchen and when the manager came out I told him we had no drinks and the server never came back after taking our order and no one had brought our sides. The manager had to bring them out for us. Finally they never brought us our pie... again...no server anywhere. Our table was like an island in the middle of all these other tables being served by other servers... just our one lone table had no server... finally I stopped a server from another section and asked her if she could find our server... 10 minutes later the manager came out and said they didnt know where our server was and had the other server bring us our coffee and pie. And the pie? it was still frozen solid in the middle and we couldnt eat it.
So we want to get our bill and just leave at this point with Thanksgiving dinner being a disaster. No server. Again I had to get the manager to give us our bill so we could leave. He apologized for the food and the lack of service and comped one of the dinners off the bill.
I have eaten at crackerbarrel for decades... this was by far the most unorganized and poorly executed dinner service I have ever seen and to make it worse the quality of the food was really bad. Even the customers around us who were getting service were complaining about the food as well. The whole thing was just a huge disaster. So thanks Crackerbarrel...while going through a tough holiday with my wife going through cancer treatments and not being able to have a home cooked Thanksgiving meal you actually made a depressing situation...
Read moreWent for breakfast Sunday between around 1 pm. We were told there was a 25 minute wait & within 10 minutes our party of 6 had a table. 5 ordered breakfast & one ordered lunch.
2 really liked their meals, the rest found it ok or acceptable.
My French toast was small in size and I ordered extra bacon in place of another item. The waitress then served double bacon (4 slices) to another person sitting across from me & gave me two slices. I also ordered scrambled eggs dry/well done & that was served to my mom while I got wet undercooked eggs. I paid extra for pancakes in place of my side item to have for later or share with the teens if they wanted more.
I asked if two slices is considered double or extra bacon & she said yes. She insisted the 2 piece was mine and the 4 was someone else's who ordered the same exact meal as me without double or extra bacon. That didn't make sense to me, I wasn't gonna ask again after I asked about the portions twice. She didn't seem to get it at first looking confused so I had to explain it; or she just didn't care to get the order right in the first place.
When serving first started she seemed to forget who ordered what & had to ask who had what. So even though she insisted she gave me the right meal, items were missing from mine & the other person with the same meal with no substitute or add one (I paid extra for) got extra items.
She seemed annoyed when I questioned if 2 pieces is considered a double order of bacon & how the plate with 4 is not double. Seemed obvious to me she got it wrong & didn't want to admit it. I even mentioned what it said in the actual menu, but I wasn't gonna go any further in front of people at the table than I already had. She just said, "No, that's right, that is yours. It's right", referring to the two pieces. The pancakes came out later since she brought out 2 of the meals later & my pancakes.
I would say overall it was nice the wait ended up less time than told, the food is ok and the service needs improvement.
No shame in writing the order down if you can't remember. I'd rather you write it & get the orders to the correct people than to have to be put through bologna, be told I'm wrong when clearly she was & still be charged extra for food given to someone else. At least it was family. Price for breakfast meals was about the same as their lunch meals. Expect to pay a minimum of $14 for a breakfast meal, not including drink.
Would I go there again. Probably only if my mom insisted because she likes them. I'd rather try another place or just get McDonald's or BK breakfast & head home. Less hassle.
3 stars for a short wait & others in the party enjoyed the...
