Shame on Dunkin Donuts at 207 N Marine Blvd, Jacksonville, NC KUDOS to Shift Leader Brandon Williams.
If you frequent Dunkin Donuts at 207 N Marine Blvd Thank Brandon for respecting and replacing their torn and tattered flag. Thank Brandon for having the moral courage to do the right thing even though he may face consequences. Thank Brandon for requesting how to respectfully care for the flag. Thank Brandon for his willingness to teach others what he has learned.
THE STORY: I live in the military town of Jacksonville, NC; home to Camp Lejuene and 47,000 Marines along with service members from all military branches, many military retirees, veterans and civil servants of the community. Many of these will drop by this DD for coffee and donuts on a daily basis. With so many patriotic Americans in the community, you would think the DD management would pay more attention to the flag outside their store, especially with Memorial Day approaching. It was torn in many places so it didn’t happen overnight.
On Sat, May 28th, I called the DD and asked to speak to a manager. Shift Leader Brandon Williams spoke to me. I expressed concern about the condition of the American flag flying outside their store. He politely listened. I offered to buy a new flag and replace theirs. He stated he thought there was another flag in the office but he didn’t have the authority to change it out. He would leave a note for the manager that the flag needed to be replaced. For the moment, I was satisfied.
On Sunday, May 29th, I passed the DD and noticed the torn and tattered flag had not been replaced and was still flying. I called the store and happened to speak to Brandon again. I reiterated that the flag should not be flown in the condition it was in and especially with Monday being Memorial Day. He said he understood my concern but there was nothing he could do. He didn’t have the authority to change out the flag and added that he checked the flag in the office and it was torn as well so it couldn’t be used. It would have to wait until Tuesday when the manager was back on duty. After reiterating the need for the flag to be replaced for Memorial Day, Brandon said he would help and he would deal with the consequences of changing the flag without management approval. He was honest and acknowledged he didn’t know how to properly raise or lower the flag so I offered to teach him. I purchased a new flag and headed to the DD store. Upon arrival, I discussed with Brandon when and how to raise and lower the flag. He learned what each of the colors of the flag represent and how to properly fold the flag. And lastly, the respectful way a torn, tattered or soiled flag should be retired. Brandon showed genuine interest in learning and the willingness to teach others on his team what he had learned. Read moreI’m not one to write a bad review but as I lay here in bed, with an upset stomach, I’m honestly kind of pissed off. I have a very simple order that has never changed in the 3 years I’ve been ordering it. A medium/large (depending on my mood) iced Matcha with oat milk and 3 vanilla flavor SHOTS, I say shot and not swirl; this is relevant later. Once I approached the window to place my order, I came to the shocking realization that it was windy outside which made it hard to understand the woman over the speaker. I told her my order, to which she asked if I wanted vanilla or french vanilla. Me, thinking “wow they came out with a new flavor shot?” asked what the difference between the two were, to which i was told one was sweeter (that being the french) so I decided to go with the french. Once I had received my drink, I noticed it was infact a flavor SWIRL and not a shot. “No big deal” I thought, simple mistake. I very politely told the woman who handed me the drink that there had been a miscommunication somewhere and that I didn’t want a swirl, as I have a severe dairy allergy and the swirls contain dairy. I was then told “well we can’t take the drinks back I don’t know” so I offered it to my friend in the passenger seat while apologizing for the whole situation profusely. Then, who I’ll assume was the manager came up and in I kid you not, the MOST condescending, annoyed tone ever, asked if I wanted my drink remade. Once again apologizing, I said yes because I was allergic to it and there must have been a miscommunication. She grabbed the drink from me, rolled her eyes, and walked away. I sat there, befuddled if you will. I don’t know if they thought I was trying to swindle them out of a free drink, I sincerely just didn’t want to spend the night on the toilet. I got my new drink, no sticker on it so I couldn’t confirm what was in it. I took 3 sips before I noticed not only was my drink made with regular milk, there was cold foam on it as well. Obviously this post was made to be silly and funny and make light of the situation, but I did get very sick on the way home as well as wasted my money :( dear girls at the window, if you see this, idk maybe try lightening up a bit! customer/food service is tough but there’s no reason to be a blatant jerk especially when I did my absolute best to be as sweet as...
Read moreSmall, but irritating complication at this location.
I asked for extra egg with my order, as in the full size egg patty that usually comes on the breakfast sandwiches.
The cashier was the best part of the experience overall as he made significant efforts to help fulfill my order by searching the menu items and even calling over someone to help. The drawback of the experience was in the person that came to help him who was very emphatic about telling me that I couldn't order extra egg at all when in fact I know that I can because I've done so numerous times at this location and the two others in this city, Jacksonville North Carolina.
Realizing that my frustration was beginning to grow and also visibly show, I raised my head up and looked up to the ceiling, took a deep breath and came back down with a smile and reluctantly asked for the full size sandwich of the same type that I was trying to order in another variation, so that I could try and not be an a* customer, get food that I wanted to eat from the place that I wanted to eat, and hopefully preserve my reputation as a customer in this location so that I don't get f with on a future visit, if at all, or become widely known as that a** customer amongst the other crew members through simple cross talk and discussion by the employees.
Yrs, discussion between employees about personal/work related topics is an actual thing, and no matter what company policy or Advocates may say, Anybody that has any kind of social interaction regularly, engages in such activity so as to maintain their sanity, vent a little bit or possibly see how they might be able to improve a situation or any other endless means that they may seek. Think not, ok. Then you must be a Hermit on an isolated island if you've never gone to school or are a part of a family or don't have friends either.
Hopefully next time I will be able to experience a better willingness to help and Achieve customer...
