Wow, what a different experience we received today! Everything was going fine until our server came. It was down hill from there. She definitely was having some issues today. She didn't smile once until the end and it was a very devilish smile that was completely sarcastic. 1st stop She only placed silverware down and took our drink orders then said I'll get more menus and turned away as I said we don't need more we're ready to order, she just kept walking anyway. Brought our drinks turned and walked away again. Each stop was the same, did one thing then quickly walked away. Came back took our orders and we asked for straws and lemons. Walked away again, came back dropped 3 straws and 3 small double quartered limes for 2 of us that asked for extra lemons. Another server dropped our food. When our server walked by we grabbed her to tell her one of us didn't like the tea and switched it to a coke. She took our bill that she'd dropped and left and instead of taking the tea off just added coke, leaving the charge of the tea, barely drank. When I asked her to take it off because it wasn't liked she began her attitude both visually and wordy even stronger than the visit had been already. Her horrible attitude turned from bad to worse. I told my son not to worry because she just had a bad attitude. She heard part of that and immediately came at me very aggressively. Long story short she then proceeded to tell each of her other associates that I was the problem. No worries on my end, I just decided her actions would be reflected in my gratuity. She kept walking by then eventually stopped and said "you can pay the bill here". I did and when she asked if I needed change I said no its the exact amount....oh boy she didn't like that and made it known to everyone in the surrounding area, then to her boss, which said to her, "don't worry I'll take care of you." At this point to even discuss with her boss (management/owner) would've been useless. So we got up and began to walk out leaving no gratuity because we were not grateful to be treated that way. Manager also wished us a good day with a don't come back loud announcement. Years of going there and year's of being a loyal customer, you guessed it...we won't be back! Food was decent, but nothing extraordinary that can't be had somewhere else without that type of service! Felt bad for the kitchen staff crammed shoulder to shoulder in a small cubby (kitchen) that are keeping the customers satisfied and in plain site of any customers needing to use the restrooms. Final note, as hot as it is outside, it's definitely not kept at a comfortable...
Read moreHave been going here for years and always had friendly service and great food. Overall always been a good experience until today. It started out perfectly fine and the waitress started out being friendly. We ordered our drinks (coffee and water) and food, no issues. She brought our coffees out right away but no water which is not a big deal at all. So I reminder her and she said "yep, haven't forgot about you guys" the proceeded to walk away leaving me to assume she was going to get it... 10mins later, nothing so the next time I saw her I asked for it again and her demeanor was totally changed. I am not sure exactly what happened in the span of 10mins, but she was completely rude about it and just brought the water without saying a word. Now I have worked in the food business, like a lot of others and we all understand you're basically working with your personality. Normally anyone else would simply say "oh crap, I forgot you... Sorry about that" and that would be the end. After she was rude about the whole thing I got the manager and just asked him if we can get another server if possible because I would rather tip someone who wasn't rude. His reaction was what was more upsetting than the waitress. He was just floored that I even dared to complain. He was beyond condescending and literally said "you're mad because you didn't get your water in time? I don't know what to tell you." The fact that that is what he was able to get out of my conversation with him was questionable. To say that I was disappointed with his attitude and their service today is an understatement. Instead of making a bigger scene and wasting anymore time with someone who refuses to understand that his wait staff could have possibly been rude to a customer and being blatantly rude and defensive for absolutely no reason at all, I paid for the 2 coffees and left. Even as I was walking out he kept making condescending remarks which really makes me question his mental state.
I have always loved The Fox for many reasons but today was such a let down. I am hoping that this was just a bad day and the type of service I received from the waitress as well as the manager was just a big one off.
I understand that The Fox is very popular and loved by many and my one bad experience isnt going to make a difference. While I am not wishing them any bad business, I truly hope someone there reads this and is able to understand that type of service is...
Read moreSuggestions: Omelettes or Waffles Price: $8-$10 per plate Pros: Pretty good breakfast, relatively inexpensive Cons: The wait can get pretty long, a lot of it is pretty simple (I.e. I could make this pretty easily at home, the decor is kinda freakishly unusual (there are dolls stuck to random spots in the wall, in addition to other random stuff)
Thoughts: I've heard a lot about the Fox in the last year or so and have recently been there a few times for breakfast/brunch. The short version is that I'm not terribly impressed, though the food is good. The long version involves the fact that I've really never found a breakfast place that blows me away because I can cook most breakfast items so you've really got to blow my mind for me to be that impressed.
The reason I do occasionally go here is because of their incredibly convenient location based on my house. At this point I've tried a few items and the things that stand out are their omelettes and their waffles. Both are really good, but again, nothing I couldn't just whip up at my house. The omelettes have plenty of filling and are reasonably sized. The waffles are lite and fluffy with a good crispness on the outside. Unfortunately they don't have many toppings for their waffles so you're stuck with either the strawberry or blueberry "toppings". Both are super sweet and sugary and don't taste like real fruit.
Another issue is that the wait can get pretty long if the place is full, and there isn't really a waiting area. You end up just standing inside the front door next to other people that are eating their food. To top it all off this place has some of the craziest decor I’ve ever seen. There walls are covered in random “stuff” including way too many weird dolls. While I’m sure that some people will find the decor quaint and creative, I find it a little off-putting and detracts from the overall experience (and it really freaks my wife out).
With all of this being said, I think The Fox will still be one of my go-to places on the very rare occasion when I want a “traditional” breakfast. The food isn’t bad it just doesn’t blow my mind and the atmosphere is a bit crazy for my tastes.near other people eating. Then to top it all off their decor is kinda freaky (not in...
