Le Macaron French Pastries Avondale — Restaurant in Jacksonville

I'm conflicted as to how I should review this place because our 2 experiences at this location were completely opposite.

Last time we came here it was a good experience. The employee was really kind and helpful. They made our fresh glace violet flower gelato and it was delicious. Their attitude and warmth in addition to the wonderful treat was enough for us to get additional items based on suggestions from her and her kind chat.

Today however, 12/21, was a complete 180. The person wasn't even at the store. They came in from their car a few minutes after we came in. We asked for the same items and they went ahead to say they didn't make them... that they were premade and they only had vanilla. This was odd cause we've had them made 3 times now and this was the first time we've heard this. We still went ahead and got them, paid and sat down. Much to our surprise, the person left the store again to go sit at their car... leaving the store alone again. What kind of service is that?

I'm going to give it 4 simply because the first experience was so wonderful. Could have been 5 but alas this more recent experience was terrible in comparison . I would give it less but I'd feel bad for the kinder older lady from the first time. Just be wary of who's working on the...

Some friends and I were eating at Blue Fish and wanted to grab a few macrons afterwards. We knew the store closed at 8, so we hurried over and walked in at 7:50. As soon as we walked in, the young lady with short hair and a nose piercing, immediately said “we’re closing soon, tell your kids to mind their hands.” She did not want fingerprints on the glass, which we understood. We quickly ordered some ice cream and went outside and were standing at the table and she came out and said “I need you to move to the other table so I can close the umbrella.” And she said said it with major attitude without a please. I said “the word please does exist.” She was very rude which is what prompted my reply. She immediately went inside, slammed the door, screamed “f* you!” And flipped me off. I looked at the clock when we walked back to our car and it was exactly 8pm, so we didn’t even stay past the closing time. Very good quality pastries but at a cost. The owner thinks he's in the 5 th androisement in Paris and the prices reflect it. Yes this is Avondale and you have to pay for your pricey storefront somehow. Coffee very good and tidy interior. Unfortunately the owner has closed shop randomly to run errands( back in one hour) sign on the door and two hours later.. the sign was still there. Very French... very déclassé. With 6 macaroons pricing at $15.00 you surely can afford someone to to fill in while you do your thing. I paid less than that on the "Croisette" in Cannes and the store was open for the posted hours every time. Definitely something to check out as the goodies are tasty but prepare...
