It’s always exciting when a new Brazilian place opens, specially for Jacksonville since there are not a lot of Brazilians here. The name Sergio’s was referred to me as a fun place to try some Brazilian food, and we went last night. Me and my wife were greeted in Portuguese (although, my wife does not speak Portuguese), we sat down at a table in the middle of the restaurant. I can’t blame the restaurant, but Brazilians are very loud and I felt we were very next to each other.

Service was quick, and effective. I ordered a Picanha Sandwich which it was great. Cold fries. The lack of clarity on the menu made my wife make a rush decision to pick a Pasta (it wasn’t on the menu, but scrolling on a TV nearby) with Salmon. The Pasta came after my and my kids plate, well presented. However the salmon was dark and it had the skin on it (we usually order salmon at restaurants, and I’ve never seen something like it). My wife ended up ditching the Salmon and eating the pasta.

The owner did come out and was extremely nice and explained that’s how the salmon is ordered. I really appreciate that.

2 Guaranás, 1 Sandwich, and One Pasta plate ended up being 70 dollars (with tip). A little taste from Brazil, overpriced, and a little bittersweet. Above all that, good luck on...

This was our second time at Sergio's and it will be our last, our first time was great but not today. I ordered Bacon Salad Bread, 150g hamburger, mozzarella cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato, I requested pickles and the waiter even checked if they had pickles but instead I got an egg! The bacon was 90% fat and 10% bacon 🤢. My son did like his burger but our fries were BARELY warm. My meal didn't come with a drink but I ONLY drink water for health reasons not to be cheap, the glass of water was warm with 5 ice cubes that immediately melted and our waiter never bothered to refill it or even check on our food. It feels like you are baking under the overhead lights or the AC was not working properly. We asked for our check, again the waiter never asked how was our food and he brought us menus for dessert? My son said we are full but he walked away. I put the menus at the end of the table and the waiter asked across the room if we were ready to order and again my son asked for the bill. The waiter just stood at the end of the table waiting to be paid, rather than leaving the bill for me to look over to determine the tip if any. $33 for a VERY disappointing meal...

Waiters need to be trained and have more awareness of the tables they are serving. They seem lost sometimes, going back and forth and not looking at the tables to make sure people need anything. I took my entire family there and it took about 15-20 minutes for some to even bring us the menu. By the time the server came back to get the drinks we decided to place the orders because we knew it was going to take long. Drinks would only be refilled if we asked for it. And the restaurant was only at its 70% capacity.

When people come to a restaurant they want to be served and eat within 40-45 minutes. When it takes hours, service is not efficient and itens come missing it turns out to be not a pleasant experience, even when the food is good.

We wanted to have dessert after dinner but the waiting was so long that we just wanted to leave.

To resume, servers need to be trained, that makes people not want to come back like us for while. Although the food is delicious and ambient is nice and clean. I’m sure we will be back, but it will be a while until we forget about it.

Work on your staff and you will have one of, if not the best Brazilian...

I recently tried a new Brazilian burger spot for a quick lunch. I ordered the picanha burger, which arrived stacked high—about six inches tall—with two slices of picanha, two pan-fried eggs, caramelized onions, bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes. While the presentation was impressive, the size meant that taking a bite required dismantling the burger. Additionally, the picanha itself was a bit tough, so I ended up using a fork and knife to manage it. We also sampled the picanha BBQ, a generous serving of French fries piled high and topped with sliced picanha and more caramelized onions. The portion was so large that it easily could have fed two people. Overall, the meal offered a solid, hearty lunch experience with a fun twist on traditional burgers.

The food was really good! Great service, Patrick walked us through each and every page of the menu explaining any questions we had (which was a lot since none of us were familiar with Brazilian food). Patrick provided us with a sample of the farofa because none of us were really understanding what it was as he explained it. My brother (not very adventurous) got one of their signature burgers and enjoyed it. My mother and I ordered off the nightly specials so I don’t believe these items were in the printed menu. I got the ribs which came with a fried egg over the whole platter and the ribs were amazing (def the highlight of our experience). My mother got the chicken medallions which had good flavor but were a little bit dry.
