As most hotels in Jacksonville fl, it is surrounded by major highways, so the noise is intense. The lady at the front desk at our check-in, maintained 3 conversations with staff, while insisting she was listening to me. I guess co worker schedules for next week are more important than those paying. She never added my IHG rewards, as she said she would. ( so glad I'm a member huh?) We asked where the elevator was, and she replied "it be ova dare". I assume front desk jobs pay crap money, so you get crap help. I get it, but cmon... the elevator actually needs to be inspected/serviced- it shakes violently, and is a bit concerning... my kid sure was scared of it. Also, must have been a minimum number of parking spaces required for construction, so they shrank them and marked MOST compact. Not good for a full size pickup... hard to open your truck door without hitting the car beside you. Literally 12" on each side of vehicle for everybody there. all ada parking spaces are on one side of the building, so a really long wheelchair trip once spaces were full. Rear of building only has one ada ramp at the far end of the complex. Probably passes inspection, but definitely doesn't show common sense or respect. Typical waffle and powdered eggs for breakfast. My kid did enjoy his $5 snack bag size check mix from their " cafe". I will try Tru again, but only once more... I booked through expedia, but she couldn't find our reservation, had to show her on the app that i had already paid for the room in advance, then mysteriously after 5 minutes, she found it. Lastly, she asked for my credit card, but then handed it back to me to swipe the reader myself. Cub didn't need to hold my card for no reason at all, for less than 5 seconds. Not sure the expedia reservation helped at all... This hotel didn't seem to have its act together. Hope this helps travelers, as there are hundreds of hotels...
Read moreI've been staying at Tru for almost 2 weeks now and everything had been great! The staff was really helpful and friendly. It has a great, fun atmosphere. I quite enjoyed staying here. This morning, I was walking my dogs, dogs that I've had to pay, what I feel is a pretty high pet fee. I get back to my room at 6am and the phone is ringing at 6am, absolutely no regard to the idea of anyone sleeping. I answer to an extremely rude voice, no hello nothing only "did you just come in here with 2 dogs" I answered, "yes"? She told me I haven't paid for them or let anyone know! Which is very untrue. I explained I had, and I can't help it's not in the system, but I've paid for them and everything. Ha even the front desk gave my dog treats yesterday! She abruptly said if morning staff comes in and doesn't know about my dogs, I'm going to need to check out today!
I then go down for breakfast, she started yelling across the entire lobby at me about this about how she went ahead and charged me for my dogs!!
I've paid quite a bit these past two weeks, but to be yelled at and treated so horribly, especially at 6am but also just in general!! I felt so embarrassed, upset because she didn't even try to talk to me it was straight to accusing, even to say I'll need to check out if I'm lying basically! What employee does that to customers! She set my morning off, and then she made it a HUGE scene in front of so many people at breakfast! I asked her to talk to the day staff when she first called but obviously by the time I went to breakfast, she already decided on what to do without talking to anyone, not believing anything I said, and going right ahead to charge me even more money. I'm really upset because I like to stay here because of the staff and how well they treat customers. But that experience was completely lost before even having breakfast...
Read moreThis place was phenomenal. This is going to be our go-to every time we are in JAX from here on out. Phenomenal location, tucked away from the hustle and bustle — but still conveniently located 1 minute from a convenient store and 2 minutes from interstate 295. So many food options and shopping options around! The hotel blew our socks off from the moment we pulled in, to the second we stepped out. We were highly impressed and both my husband and I said this was by far the nicest hotel experience we had ever had. Tomena kindly greeted us and had us laughing the entire check in process. Super cool and easy-going, warm and inviting. Very knowledgeable. Then we got up to our room and everything was spotless! The TV in the room even said, “Welcome, Julia” — I am a firm believer in “it’s all in the details” and this hotel really has it figured out. We went outside to enjoy the night and there was a cute little fireside seating area which we throughly enjoyed spending time together around! We had a nice and restful sleep, woke up ready for our 6+ hour drive back home. But not without enjoying their delicious breakfast featuring hot pancakes made to order, bacon, sausage, eggs, cereal, yogurt, bagels and more! It was phenomenal and again all employees were super kind and helpful, everything was clean from the food, the dining area, the parking lot, the rooms, EVERYTHING was truly top notch. 10 out of 10 highly recommend! They even have quite the spread around the check-in desk of snacks and drinks. Even beers! You just grab whatever you want and tell them your room number and they just add it right on. So simple and easy for late night snack runs! The pool was beautifully kept, although it was too cold for us to enjoy this trip. They had a nice...
