The Comedy Zone — Restaurant in Jacksonville

I've been here twice. The first time, we saw Tom Arnold and he, in my opinion, was not very funny. I appreciate him as a comedic actor, but perhaps he was having an off night. The second time I went was soon after, and I saw D.C. Curry.

This comedian is pretty 'in your face.' I do not think he is racist, however. He gives social commentary of the current events of the world, and it just so happens, that we have some pretty serious things going on in the country right now that many comedians will address, regardless of their ethnicity. I've heard white and black comedians speaking about the current racial issues in this country, via social commentary on television and the radio. Life imitates art, or maybe it is the other way around. Regardless, nothing that this comedian said (D.C. Curry) was racist, (let me preface this by saying I was there Thursday night - because for all I know something crazy may have happened on a day I was not there.) Now as for Thursday, was he harsh at times? Yes, but we have to laugh to keep from crying and those of us suffering from the effects of such modern day occurrences do not have the luxury of falling apart, having knee jerk reactions, feeling 'butthurt' or getting up in arms every time something is said in a joking manner or we'd be yelling and screaming all day, quite honestly, especially at a comedy club, but I digress.

All in all, I will return but would like for this club to seriously consider changing the seating arrangement. It is extremely uncomfortable. There is hardly any leg room, and just plain odd how the tables and chairs are lined up. It actually is the only reason I am not quick to run back. Who wants to be cramped up in their seat for two hours and unable to see? Also, the food and drinks were great - but the service for those food and drinks was poor. Now in fairness, there are a lot of people to serve, but the waitress never even came back to give us refills on our drinks and our order was wrong. We never got two of the items we ordered and by the time we saw her again, she had the bill and it was time to go. Surely she could have come over at least one more time and checked on us - and yes, we did have the little yellow flyer up...

I'll be back, but hopefully next time, I can sit a bit more...

A few friends and I went to enjoy a nice comedy show 5/12 7pm show of Dion Cole (Funny by the way) but I wanted to come on here and say we were very excited, and VERY hungry (waited to eat, because we knew we would eat at the Comedy Zone). Anyway, ordered our drinks and food and it took absolutely forever, even for me to get a bottled water. I asked the waitress about my water 25/30 mins later and she tells me they're really busy, and she had to wait for the bartender and there's a line. Mind you she had brought over fountain drinks to other parties at my table 15 mins prior, could've gotten my pre packaged bottled water then. But NOPE, just an excuse, no apology for the long wait. only exited to make me wait even longer, and eventually came with the water. That was just poor customer service. later When the food arrived it was cold ☹, I gave it back to the waitress immediately, and just said forget it. Also other parties at the table food came out wrong and it literally took 20/30 more mins for them to eventually bring the correct order. The food was brought over by the manager, and I was honestly very frustated and hungry lol. *I am giving 4 stars because the manager immediately corrected a wrong.. The manager didnt even give me a bunch of excuses after hearing my frustrations, he simply apologized and he offered to take care of our table. I don't expect to get things for free just bcus situatuons like this arise, however we were very appreciative. But moreover, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE trumps it all. And hopefully that was a lesson learned by the waitress tonight; No excuses, withoit even an apology, with the ultimate trifecta of poor customer service, an even longer wait time.

The manager brought out the food it was hot and edible, he again aplolgized, and all settled.

Please note at the end of it all the waitress did come back to the table tell us what we alreay knew, the manager was taking care of our table, and she sealed it with the apology that should have been delivered in the beginning.

My experience is that comedy show is good but the seating is very tight with no leg room. The drinks ARE NOT STRONG FOR THE PRICE AS WELL AS THE FOOD IS NOT GOOD either.Me and MY FAMILY WENT TO THEIR RESTAURANT FOR FATHERS DAY AND IT WAS DISCUSTING!! After I spoke with THE MANAGER about how the presentation and the taste of the food was. He was not apologetic about it. He actually kinda brushed me off and said he'll take care of it. He never came back to us to tell me that he'd replace the burnd over cooked chicken the cold food that should of been hot. I went back to the buffet to see if it'd been refreshed and it wasn't. The buffet was soiled with food and grease on it. I asked the guy that was carving the meat if someone could clean it up because its not appealing when we're trying to fix our food. He was very sarcastic and said he wanted to wait until after everyone was finished but he would clean it up for me and that it's not that they're lazy. Then he continues his sarcastic attitude with "is this clean enough for you now"? I told him he's being sarcastic and rude but after speaking to the manager he was just as unprofessional too. There were 25 family members there and no one was pleased with the food or service. I'll never go back there again every. It use to be a nice place all around but its a star 2 rating now. Also the customers that stays at the hotel are drugs and transit people staying there. I'll only go to the comedy show but WE WILL NOT EAT OR DRINK THERE AGAIN. WE'LL GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO EAT AND DRINK BEFORE OR AFTER THE SHOW. Some of us didn't pay for our meals either because it was awful . Even the food that was advertised to be served was on the menu wasn't . We would have been better off eating at Golden Coral at least the food is 10 times better there and half the price. . The price here was 49.99 per person here plus gratuity was added. You will be VERY disappointed if you eat here. We have reached out to corporate as well. Take our advice and spend and eat at another...
