Was the worst job I’ve ever had in my career as a waitress if I could give this company 0 stars I would, fair warning to anyone looking to be employed by this company, this corporation sucks, the management is awful, the way they treat their employees is ridiculous and condescending. The favoritism creates an awful environment to work in, and don’t get me started on the “we’re all family” were all family until they start reminding you of the contracts you signed that affect your schedule and all the corporate jargain they want to regurgitate. Managers barely lift a finger to help at all shout out to Adam for jumping in the dish pit when it was backed up and Yanira for being empathetic, all the other managers can eat spoiled cheese for all I care. The HR department is nonexistent, this company tries so hard to be hip and politically correct with the bs mental health “support”, which is a helpline to talk to someone for free about your feelings… I’m sorry ? is this really helpful or are they trying to seem that way to avoid actually providing employees with any sort of REAL beneficial benefits.. when we really need healthcare, and tuition reimbursement and pto and parental leave and can I just say that benefits don’t exist.. unless your full time and no one is full time because the company doesn’t want to pay their employees, once you do start to approach full time they cut your hours before you check that box because they don’t want you to receive benefits cause then the company will have to pay more to the employees taxes, also they violate labor laws everyday by having no structure to the employees shifts, they cut everyone at once and servers will have to stay 2-3 hours sometimes after they’ve been cut doing side work sand some will be waiting to polish glassware getting paid $9 an hour BELOW MINIMUM WAGE more than 20% or 30 minutes if shift is illegal. They don’t care at all, they only care if your making them money if you sell those cheap California bottom shelf wines that are barely aged they suck ! Save your money and buy a wine that’s been aged at least 5 years and the godforsaken wine clubs that guests are swindled into joining. WHO wants a subscription to a restaurant??!!!! with the mediocre food that comes out 30 minutes late and barely hot then and only then will you be favored by the managers. I have since moved on to a company that offers me healthcare benefits, consistent schedule, and fair wage and I’m so grateful for that it’s a small locally owned business and I honestly never want to work for a corporation ever again in my life because of how systematically awful this company is, and I needed to post this review to air out all my grievances and make sure that if anyone is considering future employment here, that you consider my experience with this employer at this specific location, I’m not sure about the location’s management in St. John’s tc but this is a chain so I wouldn’t be too optimistic about the management systems differing from location to location, anyways if you try to take this review down for whatever bs reason I’ve already copied and pasted this and will repost this so don’t bother. Freedom of speech thank you. P.s don’t bother responding with that repetitive robot response of “please email us your feedback is very important” email yourself this review .. here’s...
Read moreI went to Mandarin location on my birthday my experience was awful. It started with my reservation not being found and being told that my party and I would have to wait 2 hours to be seated. 2 people in my party hadn’t arrived yet so we said we would go to the bar and get a drink. We sat at the bar ordered 3 drinks and an order of Southwest egg rolls this was at about 6:30 pm. A little later a waiter brings some Calmari out and sits it in front of my group. I thought that it was ours my boyfriend told me he didn’t order it. The bartender then came over to me and stated that the couple sitting next to us brought it for us the couple then turned around and told me happy birthday. I told them thank you and proceeded to eat the Calamari a few minutes later a person came from the other side of the restaurant to where we were sitting at the bar walked up to the calamari and took it my boyfriend asked if she was going to box those up with our egg rolls that we still hadn’t received yet. She looked him in the face and told him we will have to pay for the Calamari because we were eating them my boyfriend told her he was not paying for them and before he could even get out that the couple sitting next to us gave it to us she picked up the plate and said we’ll I am taking this to the back. Once the bartender came back on our side of the bar the couple who brought us the calamari asked what was going on the bartender had no idea what had just happened to us the couple noticed the humiliation on my face and decided to buy my group a round of drinks because they could not believe this was happening and that it was racially discriminatory and they knew it 15 minutes later the young lady who took my Calamari comes back and now she has 2 plates of Calamari she gives the couple their Calamari then comes to my group and says whose the birthday girl I’m sorry I didn’t know so I had them to make it fresh. I this point I am confused on why the Calmari was even taken from me in the first place if she would have communicated with her bartender none of this would have happened. I let her know that she ruined my birthday and if she could wrap those up with my egg rolls so that we could pay our bill and go because we did not feel welcomed in this establishment. I asked for a manger a male came out said that he was going to check something and never came back. The woman who took the calamari later told me she was the manger when I told her that I was waiting to speak to a manager at the point i decided to just wait until the next day to call the restaurant and get this rectified. The staff way of rectifying this was to give me a bottle of wine and 4 dinner vouchers I had 6 guest with me and 6 guest were humiliated and made to feel like nothing on their visit. I spoke with a manager on Sunday who advised me he would get to the bottom of it and give me a Callback I never received a callback so now I am searching for a corporate number to call. I will probably never eat at this location again. I truly believe they do not want groups of colored people in their...
Read moreLet me preface this with saying that my husband and I frequent this establishment often and are wine club members. Majority of the time we do not face any issues with staff or food.
Tonight my husband and I chose to celebrate our 12 wedding anniversary at Cooper’s Hawk. We made reservations and arrived about 15 minutes early. They were waiting for servers to arrive and so we waited an additional 20 minutes. During our wait, my husband noticed a booth area that was open in which he asked the host if we could possibly sit there. We were told they were waiting for a server for that booth and that it would only be a moment longer. We were called for seating and I informed that host (different from the one my husband made the request with) that we requested a particular booth (which was still open). We were told that booth is reserved for larger parties and were sat in another area.
After placing our order, we noticed the same booth having two people sitting. And the one behind them had only two people sitting. I mentioned it to our waitress who inquired because she had not heard about the booth only being available for larger parties. She came back and informed us that those are “U-booths” and are available upon request (which I thought that is what we did when REQUESTING it with two separate host).
Now to the food: I ordered the 8oz filet mignon and it was extremely overcooked and dry. Yes, a filet mignon was dry, I didn’t think it was possible, yet here it was. Our server immediately took the steak back and brought out a new one, but the steak was so severely charred on the outside, that it had the entire bite chewy and flavorless. I unfortunately sent that back and ordered the pesto sea bass instead. The sea bass was delicious with the exception of the small potatoes that were undercooked.
Also, for it being our anniversary and informing the server and hosts as such, we were never offered any complimentary dessert etc. We were never asked if we wanted dessert or if we were wine club members. Maybe this isn’t a regular thing that the restaurant offers or celebrates, but we left feeling extremely disappointed and...
