We found this place from a random google maps search looking for something to eat in the area, and I’m so glad we finally checked it out. First, huge outdoor patio with picnic tables, some counter-type seating, and patio furniture. There’s also some additional counter-type seating under a roof by the front door. There’s also seating inside comprised of several four tops, a large picnic table for a group, and bar top seating.
They have happy hour deals for nachos, tacos, wings, and beer. Beer selections are from local breweries and there was also a small wine selections. You can choose sandwich plates that come with one side or platters that come with two sides. The Hutt had a bunch of great options that made it hard to choose, like smoked wings, tacos, curried fries, and chicken thighs. I can’t wait to go back and try something else!
Our group ordered platters (ribs with fries and beans, burnt ends with collards and slaw, lean brisket with mac n’ cheese and beans, and fatty brisket with slaw and beans). The BEANS, guys, THE BEANS! So, so good! A lil sweet, a little spicy, with small sausage bites and tender onions. The mac was also very good with the perfect amount of spicy and not a super thick cheese sauce. Collards were deliciously smoky and a great meaty flavor - definitely not your traditional take on collards and I’m here for it! The lean brisket was juicy and the fat brisket melted in your mouth (and cut like butter). Ribs had a ton of meat and were deliciously juicy. I didn’t get a chance to try the burnt ends, but I can say they didn’t last long on my friend’s plate. He also gave rave reviews to the pickled jalapeños that came on the side. Fries were crunchy and well-seasoned.
For a random google find, I am SO satisfied with our visit. I’m already thinking about what I’m going to...

Order: Florida Fries w/ Brisket and Sausage About: $28
It’s been seven years since I started going to the Butt Hutt Smokehouse when it was a food truck and wrote a review for them the first time. This past weekend I got to go to their soft opening and could don’t be more excited.not be more excited.
Very little has changed, except the prices, I mean, it’s been seven years guys, we’ve all seen with inflation did to the country right? Clearly, the prices are gonna be more expensive. But what matters has not changed. The food is still incredible (it’s some of the best brisket, I’ve ever eaten) the sauce is still made of some wild magic that I can’t wrap my head around, and the vibe is still super chill.
I’ve been looking forward to the Butt Hutt getting a physical restaurant for probably three years at this point, and I am beyond excited! And you should be too! If you haven’t tried their BBQ before now, you’ve been missing out on some of the best barbecue life has to offer, and now it’s really easy to get that fix. With their permanent location they’ve got awesome outdoor seating, a cool indoor vibe, and you don’t have to try and hunt them down around the city to get killer BBQ.
I am so excited for Jacob, for the whole Butt Hutt team, for me, you, and the rest of Jacksonville! If you haven’t eaten here yet, you need to fix that as quickly as possible, and if you have already eaten here, it’s probably about time...
Read moreThis is a great addition to the Westside Jax barbecue scene! I had never tried the food truck so it was all new to me. Parking is super easy and the location is conveniently right off Roosevelt/17. I ordered the brisket sandwich with corn nuggets and also sampled my husband's baked beans and spicy mac and cheese. I got a mix of fatty and lean brisket and it was delicious and there was a decent portion of it. Great flavor, nice texture on both types. The bun was a good one too. There are three barbecue sauces on the table: sweet, sweet heat, and a mustard-based sauce. I don't care for mustard so I tried the other two and liked them best mixed together. The corn nuggets were really good and the garlic ranch they are served with is fantastic. I might order extra of that next time to put on my sandwich. I didn't care for the baked beans; they were mushy and the flavor was meh to me. The spicy mac was very tasty though. They use the big spiral pasta, lots of cheese, and it was spicy but not too spicy. I'll get that again for sure. I also like that they have one Stubborn brand soda option, but I wish they had some local beers on tap. Service was very friendly and attentive. The only negative besides the beans are that it's very warm inside unless you are at the bar or the one table in the main area. There's a lot of outdoor seating, but it's just too hot in the summer to use it. I expect we'll come here a lot September-May and happily sit outside. I think this place will go in our...
