Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Jasper

When we arrived it took quite awhile for our server to come and take our drink order but when she finally came, she wasn't very friendly. She asked what we wanted to drink, we told her and she walked off without saying anything else. No smile or thank you, I'll be right back, would you like me to put in some appetizers for you..... absolutely nothing. Myself and my 13 yr old son both were like ok maybe it will get better but it didn't get better with her. She brought our drinks and asked what we wanted to order. I told her we were still looking over the menu deciding on our main course, we wanted appetizers but she walked off again without saying anything so we waited until she came back to order our appetizer and our food. I tried to make small talk about the couples food that was seated near us smelling so good and I inquired about what they had. She didn't seem to want to engage in any other conversations but went ahead and told me what they had. She then took our order and again, walked off without saying anything so I spoke up and said ohhh I'll get that order put in, thank you, you're welcome! A lady walked up behind her as I was saying all that and was apparently the manager. She took her to the back and talked to her but I found all this out later then we ended up with a new waitress named Kristy. She was a dream! So nice right off the bat. Came in and introduced herself, told us she'd be taking care of us the rest of the evening and if we needed anything to please let her know. A few minutes later she came to check on us so I asked if we left a tip would she get it or the 1st girl. She said since she took over our table it would be hers to get. I told her I was glad to hear that because she already impressed me in the 5 minutes we had her as our server. She was so kind and spoke so nicely to us. I also talked to the manager and let her know I appreciated the change in servers and gave her my account of what happened with the 1st server. She let me know this isn't the only time there have been complaints and they have tried to work with her to change her approach but she doesn't seem to be changing. While she was there she asked if everything else was good, I mentioned a big gristle that was in my steak which made eating the last half impossible. I told her I wasn't expecting it free or anything but showed it to her so she'd be aware and she told me she would take a percentage off and she did. So thankful for Kristy and the manager but I really hope the girl without people skills finds a new approach to...

The waiter was inattentive to our needs. Appetizer took almost 45 minutes to receive and only came out only a few minutes before the entrees were served. The steaks were undercooked but we had waited 45 minutes or more to eat. We had ordered our steaks medium and they were rare with blood on the plate . He said that it was the cooks fault but we had been waiting 45 minutes to an hour to get the food and we were starving. Also, the food was barely warm. We had to ask another server several times for refills. When he did, he said that they had run out of coffee and that he was making a fresh pot. It didnt taste fresh. It was barely warm and bitter. My daughter is a server in another restaurant and she said this was totally unacceptable behaviour. He needs to be trained right or he needs to go. I also noticed other tables where ppl left most if not all of their food on their plates. The food our other guests had ordered were not hot either. We completely understand if it was busy or if you were short staffed But unfortunately, it was not busy at all. We came before it would've been. I dont know if we will be back. It was my worst experience ever here,, I've come here multiple times,, but this time was the number 1 worst, I believe there was something wrong with are server,, she could not do her job.. it took her a long time to get to us to even place our order.. when our food came out she didn't even bring us bread and butter plates, the kids had eat on the table for their appetizers,, I had to go to hostess to get some.. Than when brought food out forgot mine.. she never ever once checked on us for refills or anything,, we had to flag down a server to retrieve my food that was still sitting in the window.. we were sitting at the big table by the doors. She finally came and asked my daughter at the end how was your food, trying play it off it was the cooks fault.. which even my daughter told her her food was bad and as you seen in the picture above what my chips looked like not edible to eat.. to small.. This girl needs to be fired.. she don't know how to serve but again she also acted sick..
