The Experience: My brother and I were searching for a nice place to eat in Jasper and decided to try Crawfish Warehouse. Unfortunately, we missed the mark entirely. Upon arrival, the first impression was cramped – the interior is very small. Combined with high noise levels, it felt chaotic rather than welcoming. Finding comfortable seating was also a challenge, adding to the initial discomfort.
The Food & Value (The Major Letdowns): We ordered several items hoping for a taste of Cajun flair: Crawfish Tails: Dripping in grease. Any potential flavor was completely overwhelmed by the overwhelming oiliness. Not crispy, just soggy and heavy. Gator Bites: (The relative "highlight," though unremarkable). Nachos & Queso: Arrived solid with a distinct, unappetizing layer of oil pooled on top. It was congealed and looked (and tasted) like it had been sitting far too long. Hush Puppies: Standard, nothing special to note. On par with Captain D's.
The Bill Shock: For two teas and the food listed above (no alcohol), the total came to $71 before tip. This felt exorbitantly high for the quality and quantity received. "Freaking bucks" is an accurate sentiment – the value proposition was severely lacking. And as a heads up, they charged over $3 for using a credit card.
The Aftermath: The true verdict came swiftly. I developed significant heartburn before even leaving the parking lot. This uncomfortable physical reaction speaks volumes about the greasiness and poor quality of the food, particularly the crawfish tails and queso.
Final Verdict: This was our first visit to Crawfish Warehouse in Jasper, and it will absolutely be our last. Between the cramped, loud atmosphere, the shockingly high price for subpar food, the unacceptably greasy and poorly prepared dishes (especially the crawfish tails and oily queso), and the immediate negative physical reaction, the experience was thoroughly disappointing. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Crawfish Warehouse to anyone. Save your money and your stomach – there are undoubtedly better dining...
Read moreI hate to even leave a review like this because my very first experience here was a good one but I have been back several times since (at both busy and non-busy times) and had bad experiences. Tonight my family and I arrived at 5pm, we waited right at an hour for a table which was fine because it was a Saturday night and the inside eating area isn’t that big. When we were sat down, we waited an additional 35 minutes before anyone ever came to even take our drink orders, and over an hour before we received our food. My father in law had ordered gumbo in addition to his entree, and he thought he would receive it before the entree came, we even asked about it, but it came out with everything else. As soon as my daughter’s catfish was sat down on the table I told our waitress that it was burnt, and I didn’t think she was going to be able to eat it. It was also ridiculously over- breaded. The waitress didn’t offer to have some more cooked or to bring her anything else. She just said she’d let the kitchen know. My daughter indeed could not eat her catfish, she ended up eating half of my mother in law’s grilled chicken instead. All of our sides were cold and soggy, and inedible. Mine and my daughter’s baked potatoes were so cold that they wouldn’t even melt the butter. I was charged three additional dollars for my baked potato to be loaded, which consisted of a few shreds of cheese and three or four bacon bits. Again, the potato was so cold that the cheese would not melt. I ordered blackened mahi mahi, which I did not receive. I had wanted to order oysters but I was told that there weren’t any left. There also wasn’t any slaw left. I’m not sure who was in the kitchen tonight but it appeared that they absolutely did not know what they were doing. I asked for my daughter’s catfish to be removed from our bill, which it was, but I honestly didn’t want to pay for any of our food because we didn’t eat it and left hungry. Service was horrible, food was horrible, and we will...
Read moreI won’t go back to this restaurant unless the quality of the food improves. Not too long after they first opened the quality was wonderful. I invited a few friends & family to eat with us. The food was outstanding. But I’ve gone back a couple times lately & what a difference. I had a catfish filet, 1/2 dozen fried shrimp, fried okra & a baked potato.
I spent close to $100.00 for this meal for two people. The quality of the food was nowhere near worthy of that price.
The waitress was pretty friendly though not as attentive as she could’ve been because the place was not that busy, & the staff overall were not dressed like they gave a damn as their faces reflected that to be the case; not at all professional. I also had an order of gumbo to go. When I got home I thought I’d just taste it to see if it was bad like the meal I’d just had. It didn’t disappoint-it was bad as well.
My favorite thing about this bad experience was the fried pickles, which were also overpriced for this type of appetizer, but nonetheless they were up to par.
So I called & spoke with the district manager. She was pleasant & understanding about the situation, but she said that if I had told the waitress while we were there, they would have done something about it. Then in the same breath she said that one of the owners had said at the last meeting that all comps should be stopped. So that tells me the owners are not willing to put the customers satisfaction first.
Hindsight is 20/20 as they say. I won’t be a patron of nor will I suggest anyone else should be a patron of...
