I've lived in Jasper my entire life and eaten here countless times. When the Jasper Mall used to be great (JC Penny, KB Toys, Sneaky Pete's, Chick-Fil-A, Subway, K-Mart, The Peanut Shack, etc.), Garfield's was one of the best places to eat in Jasper.
The last two times I've eaten there have been increasingly bad. I NEVER write reviews, good or bad, because I've worked the retail and food industries most of my life and know some days are just bad days. This time was so bad, I HAD to write a review so that the leadership of this company/location can hear about it publicly and try to do something about it.
I ate there a couple days ago right at lunch time, around noon, just my wife and I. To begin with, it was insanely hot in there, and the table was sticky. It felt gross immediately. It's never been like that before, so I just assumed they were having AC problems. If it was just that, I can get past that because that's something they can't totally control.
We were there about 5 minutes before our server Shellie came to take our drink orders. About 5 minutes later, we finally got our drinks. Mind you, the restaurant had MAYBE 4 tables occupied in the middle of lunch time. Normally, it's packed. So, it's obvious the entire town realizes how bad this place has gotten.
When Shellie brought our drinks out, she took our order. I ordered a steak and potatoes, medium rare. My wife ordered some kind of pasta. It took us 58 minutes from the time we got there until our food finally came out. Like others have stated, I believe Shellie forgot to put our order in, because she came back about 20 minutes after taking our order and said, "You guys haven't gotten your food yet?" No, you're our server, wouldn't you have brought it out? So, she said she was "going to go yell at the guys."
So, 58 minutes after we got there, I got a well done steak that was disgusting, barely finished half of it, and we got one refill within an hour (mind you my drink had been sitting empty for quite some time).
So, it was probably 90 degrees in the restaurant, our server took too long to even come take our drink orders, our food took slightly less than an hour to get to us, and then we had terrible service on refills and stuff. I will never be back to this restaurant ever again, and this place needs a serious overhaul or re-working of the staff. The girl who finally brought us our food, Lexi, was very nice, but we had already been ready to leave...
Read moreI placed an order through Door Dash. The ticket in the bag was correct but out of three different dishes something major was left off of each dish. It was messed up so bad that Door Dash refunded my entire order except the tip to the driver. Garfield’s tried to say that Door Dash was to blame because it wasn’t on the ticket but the manager didn’t realize that I had a copy of the ticket in my bag until I made her aware of it and let her know quickly that it was on the ticket and Garfield’s was to blame not DD. I do not recommend Garfield’s as they have gone down hill. I cannot see why they’re still in business if they can’t do any better than they do. Our order was missing the salad on one the slaw and mashed potatoes being loaded on the other and all of the dipping sauces that were supposed to come with the quesadillas as well as the sour cream and guacamole that I had paid extra for on the nachos. Like I said all of the dishes ordered had stuff left off. Ordered a combo that had 1 Baby back Ribs and Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo that was to come with salad, slaw and mashed potatoes that I requested to be loaded and their was no salad, no slaw and the loaded part of the potatoes was left off 2 Nachos were ordered with no beans but add guacamole. The sour cream that came with them was not there nor the guacamole that I paid and extra $1.25 for either. I ordered chicken quesadillas that were to come with salsa, sour Cream and guacamole and in the picture they looked really good but when I got them all that was in the box was the dried out chicken quesadilla with no dipping sauce and looked nothing like the photo on the menu.

Read moreAfter being greeted by the "friendliest" greeter ever, we were promptly seated and told our server would be over in a moment. Literally 10 minutes later, and after the "friendly" greeter walked by no less than 4 times, I decided to stand up and have a look around. The restaurant was less than 25% occupied at best. Probably because we got there at 4:30 for an early dinner. I was making the decision to just leave because that was an unacceptable amount of time to sit idle without at least being greeted by wait staff. As I looked towards the kitchen counter area, a nice young lady developed a shocked look on her face as she covered her mouth and said to her fellow staff that she didn't know she had a table. Nevermind that she brought waters to the table next to us and must have not noticed us sitting there. But I digress. She immediately came over and took our drink and food orders. We ordered 2 burgers and the seafood platter (a fried mess of shrimp, fish, and fries... It is what my wife wanted). It took another 30+ minutes to get our food. Meanwhile, we watched 2 tables that came after us, get their food before us. Then when the food arrived, we were too hungry to care that the burgers had the taste and texture of corrugated cardboard. The patties were so over done, we probably could have used them to play hockey. And I'm fairly certain that a kids meal comes with more fries than we got combined. I hope this was just an off day for the staff, but never the less, I will not be returning to this...
