JR's Bar — Restaurant in Jasper

Pros: 1: Nice bartenders 2: Beer is cheap 3: No cover 4: Indoor smoking 5: Nice Jukebox 6: plenty of single old dudes to take drunk ladies home. 7: overnight parking

Cons: 1: pool tables have dead bumpers and crooked sticks. 2: All mixed drinks get served in re-washed solo cups. 3: Both restrooms have 1 toilet so get in line. 4: Both restrooms smell like bleach and vomit. 5: Air filtration systems havent worked in 10 years so bring your gas mask. 6: Live $300 coverbands sound like old men and drunk kareoke singers. 7: prepare to be groped by drunk men that "Mike" the owner will ban only to allow back in the bar within 5 minutes. 8: A great place for the Hopeful underage drinker as no-one gaurds...

We were in town for a few days on a fishing trip and JR's wasn't far from our hotel so night one we figured we'd check the place out for a drink before turning in. What a great little dive bar! It ended up being our landing spot every evening. Great drink prices and the owner Michael Beck is a top notch guy along with his staff! After night one we were taken in by not only them but the regulars as well. It felt like we were at home! Do try the pizza! I wanted a hometown pizza while traveling for business. Something that wasn't commercial and full of fillers. JR's was recommended to me but with the warning that it was a bar. I'm not put off by bars so I gave it a go! Now I understand what they meant by "a bar". The pizza made the atmosphere worth walking into. However, if you're not interested in smelling like an ashtray after 2 min of being in the door, definitely pay their $1.50 to go order fee because they are a smoking bar. A HEAVY smoking bar.
