Old Brick House Deli — Restaurant in Jefferson City

The food came out quick, but it wasn't anything to write home about. I had the chicken salad sandwich, but it tasted more like tuna. I finished half my sandwich and reached to pick up the other half as a beetle crawled out from under it. The owner returned my money and apologized, but he tried to blame it on the window I was sitting next to, but I would have seen the bug land in my basket and crawl under my sandwich. After this I went to the restroom. A young man I believe was an employee (I could be wrong) had just exited. Immediately, I was greeted with an overwhelming smell even though at first sight the restroom was very clean. I know it's a bathroom, but this smell was pungent. There was a little wall in the bathroom, and I peeked around it to see a urinal nearly overflowing with stagnant urine. Great atmosphere. This place is a local favorite. Rural appeal, like visiting the old farm house. Indoor and outdoor seating. Great Deli style menu. Most notable is their famous house salad. Personally, I like the salad, but its not the best I've ever had. However, it is simple, fresh, and flavorful. It comes cut and mixed making it easy to eat and light on the stomach. The dressing is more sweet than savory and that's where my palate diverges. Overall, it's a 7 out of 10 in my opinion. They serve Boar's Head Deli meats which are a notable brand in the Deli meats market. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. This is a pleasant place to grab a meal. My first time here, the young girls that greeted me were surprisingly friendly and helpful. What a treat, here in customer service, starved Missouri! It's a cute little joint, built in an old house, but unless there is a back entrance for wheelchairs and walkers, this place is NOT disabled friendly, which is a bummer. I ordered a roast beef sandwich and it was delicious, but very small for the price. The cookies the girls suggested were legit and even though I could probably get a bigger sandwich, somewhere else, I wouldn't be supporting a local, family business.
