I need to first apologize because I told the owner I was going to leave a review and I guess it never saved or something. Sorry Charlie!
So here is my confession: I would not have gone to just "another pizza joint" when I come into town (I live in Denver) because I was trying to show my girlfriend around and taker her to good places as I was attempting to "woo" her into moving out here with me. Lol.
Well, my dad took us here because he knew hands down where to go and need to share. Also because he loves it that much. After ordering and receiving a great Moscow Mule made by Tim at their bar (BIG plus for us going out anywhere!). We got to sit down and enjoy The World Series with an empty bar...weird, I know. No memory of what I ordered but knowing my girl, a meat lovers had to be one of the two pizzas we got and damn they were great! We loved the fresh toppings, the drinks were perfect and the beer was matching with what they serve. Remember: you don't need a big beer list to accompany pizza menus, you just need to put some thought into pairing just like Charlie and his team have here at West Main. But this isn't the end folks! As we know, the game got intense and like most baseball it dragged on perfectly to a point where we were all just enjoying each other's company (Tim, Charlie, his wife, etc.) a little too much and got to talkin' about his pies. And just as shocking as the outcome of the game, BOOM!, Charlie had tag-teamed with his wife the story of their restaurant all while making a few of his favorite pies: Taco Pizza and the dessert cinnamon pie. We were still FULL mind you, but the pizza was so good we all sat and talked until the two were gone. Here is something else to consider. At this point, it's midnight. No big deal right? Well, they close at 8pm...! This place stayed open to enjoy the game and the guests which turned into a night we wont forget! Fresher ingredients than the "Pappa," better flavors than that Greek guy's down the street y'all are so proud of...
You may not find the same night we had there, but I will guarantee you will not be disappointed in the pizza, the service, the selection, and the love they have for the crust is as deep as they have for the patrons that come in. I may not move it Jefferson City because of this place only, but it will ALWAYS be a stopping point for us when we are in town visiting my parents and friends! So thank you to Charlie and his team! You took just "another pizza place" and knocked it out of the park....
Read moreI don’t usually do this HOWEVER: My three year old and I went just now for lunch and I feel hoodwinked. We waited for someone to take our order. We asked for the lunch special with extra pepperoni pizza (which is comical given the picture), salad, and drink. I was charged 17.85-thinking “oh this will be amazing!” fast forward to the picture below. Menu online has incorrect prices. The menu on the wall doesn’t list prices. I was then asked to tip- I definitely didn’t. The woman working the counter wasn’t super helpful or friendly and enjoyed sighing as if it was a burden to offer service rather than her job. It is all self service so I was unsure what the tip would be for. I wouldn’t have gone if I knew it was buffet style- using plates that people off the street have touched and silverware from a jar. We didn’t finish the salad or pizza. Don’t bother offering a free pizza. I just wanted others to know this place probably shouldn’t have 4.5 stars. All around an underwhelming experience. Now to go get lunch!
If that were true you would still be able to see the pepperoni under the cheese on the pizza. Just like the other photos (added from your restaurant’s website) the pepperoni may be under the cheese but they’re still visible. There wasn’t any pepperoni under the...
Read moreToday I had my first pizza, a personal-sized supreme, from this store.I would have loved to give this pizza five stars, but however, there were a couple things lacking. First of all, the crust, although crispy and crackly, full of holes, was a bit undercooked and I could taste the leavening. Upon first bite, I could start to taste the ingredients. However, they were quickly smothered out by the overabundance of stretchy cheese on top. The cheese had brown toasty marks all around but was put on so thickly that the heat never really got to the other toppings. Another ingredient lacking, which I have been searching for many, many years, is the addition of Italian spices. The chain restaurants of yesteryear could be identified by what kind of spices they added into the sauce or even the dough. Sadly, most all the mom-and-pop restaurants choose to leave that ingredient out. I believe that with a little bit of tweaking, and refining the cooking process of the pizza here at West Main, this little place could really knock them out of...
