Nice little sub shop that's tucked in off of Missouri Boulevard, after reading some reviews, we stopped in to try it out.
Big difference between this and what I call a "Stinkway," with their acrid-smelling locations that sometimes almost fry your sinuses. 3 simple choices of bread, white, wheat, and rye. The location is cozy and pleasant, and has substantial shielding between the counter and customers for COVID precautions. They're also not refilling drinks for the same reason, right now.
The sandwiches were delivered in a large paper bag, stapled neatly closed, and wrapped in foil. My son got the hot Italian, I had the meatball sub, both on rye. Let me say, the rye is a pleasant surprise, with a flavor very distinct from the more common offerings. I liked it a lot.
The meatballs were dense, with a nice bite, the sauce was slightly sweet, but definitely marinara, and was good with the bread choice. This was a hot sandwich, with the bread nicely toasted. I thoroughly enjoyed eating without having to be annoyed with advertising and controversy. No "guilt," no overpaid celebrities,...
Read moreI ordered a meal over the phone for my husband a 6 inch sub, potatoe salad, and a Dr Pepper, with a $2 tip and it cost me $17 and the delivery was right next door. They charged me for a 12 inch sub and told me they took the order exactly how it was said. I the. Said so now your calling me a liar. He said I was the only one saying that. They said we will refund your money if he hasn't eaten the other half. I told the manager how the heck am I supposed to knowif he has or not? This was almost an hour ago. I'm in Columbia already visiting my uncle in ICU. I told he didn't know what I order him just told him I sent him food like I always do. He is my husband I know what he likes. So if he ate it, I'm sorry, but still... you got the order wrong and charged me 17$ for one meal. Crazy. I've eaten here forever, had food delivered to my house, job, etc. I will not be going back. I could have gotten him a nice steak dinner for that price! So messed up and not cool sub shop. Keep the money. You lost long time customers over a few dollars and your employee not taking the order correctly...
Read moreWhile I don't frequent various eateries in JCMO very much these days, the JC Sub Shop is one of my favorite experiences for sub sandwiches. Probably one of the best uses of an old-school Taco Bell location, the JC Sub Shop does have a small dining area, but don't let that discourage you from enjoying their subs there or to go. They typically will serve your subs hot, but will also happily serve your subs cold if you like. Also for those who like rye bread, rejoice; the JC Sub Shop offers rye as one of their bread choices. Nothing fancy, just white, wheat and rye but the real star is what's inside. One of my recommendations? A vegetarian sub with roast beef. You get a very filling sandwich with good portions of both your protein and other toppings. Plus the cheese is nice and gooey, just the way it ought to be on a warm sub. Did I mention the price is right as well? You will get a good sub for your buck here. Definitely worth a visit...or if you're a regular, definitely worth trying out their...
