Meson Del Taco Express — Restaurant in Jefferson Township

Today I continued with my mission of finding the best Mexican burrito in all of Chicago. The place I went to today I discovered just simply driving on West Belmont near Elmwood Park in between sales appointments. This place, Meson Del Taco Express 7616 W. Belmont, was not on my list of places to go visit. But boy oh boy am I glad I stopped! On this visit, there was no dine-in available. Everything is to go. The service when I placed my order was absolutely outstanding. The lady at the counter was friendly, attentive and had a lovely smile. Such a nice experience. When I got out to my car and opened up my burrito the first thing I noticed was some of the cutlets of meat that was just outside the tortilla. These little meaty chunks looked so delicious. I could tell it was a quality meat and nicely cut up. I saw no sign of unattractive fatty, grizzle or burnt meat. You know when you know and boy did I know this was going to be a fantastic experience eating this burrito. OMG, simply heaven! This is what I want heaven to be like if I get there! The burrito was stuffed with flavorful well spiced steak, tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, avocado and sour cream. The sauce wasn’t that typical red and green sauce you get at every taco joint around. It was more like a brownish sauce. Supposed to be hot but it was definitely tolerable. I highly recommend this place. I am definitely going to keep this noted...

Ordered 2 Steak Burrito dinners avocado and sour cream on the side, side of guacamole and quesadilla. The food was warm almost cool to the touch. The steak, rice and beans had zero flavor the green sauce made the burrito edible. The guacamole had no lime or salt added so it was just avocado and diced tomato mash. The chips that came with the guacamole looked like it was store bought chips not freshly cooked. This was my 3rd attempt to give this restaurant another chance to regain my patronage and unfortunately they fell short again. I never posted my review of the other 2 offenses that caused me to no longer purchase from here. Unfortunately since Chi Taco went out of business there is no longer any amazing mexican food in Elmwood Park or the surrounding neighborhoods within 15 miles. I've been purchasing either a chicken or steak burrito from this location nearly every week. I picked up a chicken burrito tonight and not only did the PRICE GO UP , it was THE WORST CHICKEN BURRITO I'VE EVER HAD!!! Absolutely no flavor and very skimpy on the fillings. Wonder if this place will fall from Grace as Taco Burrito King did :( That place was THE BOMB in the late 90's!!! And to think I just suggested co-workers to try this place out! I'll have to tell them the bad news in the morning :( Very disappointed!!! Plus my daughter said two weeks ago that they had the best veggie burrito and wanted to order from here tomorrow.
