There's good food, and then there's perfectly prepared food. I suggest taking small portions of everything, don't make the mistake of taking too much of any one thing, filling up, and thus, not having the appetite to experience other things. I did so with the lamb. I was excited to see that they had lamb. It was wonderful but had I taken one less piece, I might have been able to experience something else. The Polish people are blessed. And this food is absolutely divine. And my waitress was so sweet. The day this restaurant closes will be a very sad day. If you haven't been here, don't wait! Don't decline the pickle soup!! Best tripe soup I ever had, too. Also, I wasn't going to try the pork cutlets because I figured there were things I'd enjoy more...but oh my gosh I am very glad I tried them! Honestly, everything was nearly euphoric for me, truly fantastic. And those shrimp! And those potato salads and variety of coleslaw. And it might sound like a small thing, but the kraut was perfectly rinsed, retaining just the right amount of flavor. After each visit to the buffet, my plate was eaten clean, only bones were left. I really did not have much room saved for dessert, but I had to try a couple things. Great stuff, carefully prepared, and made with love. I came from Milwaukee area and tried it for the first time on Friday, 4/19/24. I most definitely will be back with friends, to treat them. Much gratitude to the owner and everyone who makes this restaurant...
Read moreWonderful buffet food, cozy interior, and friendly staff. Parking is a little hit-or-miss, but it's worth it. There's a little bit of something for everyone.
There's always a wide variety at the salad bar, so I'd feel confident saying a vegetarian could probably have a good meal here. Don't like cucumber salad? Have the bean or potato salad. There's a rotating selection of perogi, and they're not all meat-based (can't decide which is better, the strawberry perogi or the sauerkraut ones, mm-mm!).
Feeling more carnivorous? There's usually a couple of fish dishes, and enough meat to have it coming out your ears! Breaded cutlets and schnitzel, liver and sausage, there's pork and chicken enough for two meals!
They do mention that they charge for signs of obvious waste of on your plate in order to help keep prices fair, and to me, that's an excellent concept. It helps remind me to pace myself so as to not leave half my plate full while I lean back and clutch my stomach, wishing I hadn't had that third helping of potatoes...and topped it off with a warm cheese blintz.
With very little sense of hyperbole, I can give a warning that if you try to sample everything all in one go, you will leave in agonizing fullness, close to the point of needing to be wheelbarreled out. Everything is always so delicious that it's hard to take only a little bit of anything. If one dish disappoints you, there's enough to almost guarantee you'll find something...
Read moreWe were traveling from out of town and wanted to try something new. We searched for buffets and found this amazing gem. The extent of my experience with Polish cuisine was pierogi, potato pancake stuffed cabbage. Let me tell you my wife and I were treated to the most delightfully delicious authentic dishes prepared fresh in small batches. Every trip to the buffet provided more selections than I could possibly try in one visit. Meats, sides and desserts that I have never had or familiar ones prepared in different ways. I've never had the opportunity to have this amazing food at someone's house. But I can tell you for sure somebody's mom from the old world was back there creating wholesome treasures that I will remember for some time to come and crave until our next trip to the the Chicago area. I've been to alot of buffets but this was different. On another level all together. It felt like someone invited me over to their home and allowed me to try every dish they held dear in their heart. The staff was outstanding and extremely attentive to our needs and answered questions we had about different dishes. I could go on and on about how awesome it was but it'd be easier if you just went and tried it. You will not be disappointed and I guarantee you will find something on offer that you will love. It is no surprise why Red Apple Buffet is one the highest rated buffets in America. Keep doing what...
