Made it a point to go here because of other reviews I saw. I was not disappointed.
The tacos are only $1.99 unless you want the chili rellenos tacos those are $3.25.
The food was surprisingly fresh and tasty. I got the taco dinner which consists of three tacos served with rice beans and tortillas. Ask for carne asada or skirt steak it is delicious. The taco dinner is $8.99.
We also had a carne asada torta with refried beans, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and sour cream on it. All of the Torches are $5.50.
They give you chips and sauce to start with and I would hold off on eating lot of chips so you do not spoil your appetite for the rest of your mail. The taco dinner is very big and failing.
The restaurant is located on Cicero just south of Fullerton Avenue on the west side of the street it's a small place very dive like and sparsely decorated. But, don't let that fool you the food is great.
There's about 20 chairs inside the restaurant so you can sit and eat, but a lot of their business is to go.
Will have to return here for the al pastor tacos which they are known for.
I would have given them a 5-star rating instead of 4 for the food alone, but I did not receive the tortillas with my dinner, which I did not even notice because I was so full, until I...
Read moreI was looking forward to these tacos considering all the positive reviews, I was excited. I ordered around 12 pm, and my order was ready in about 10 minutes. I ordered the steak and alpastor tacos. First impression, the steak meat looked a bit different compared to other restaurants and had a different texture. Not the best steak tacos, I would rate it a 2.5 out of a 10. Now, the alpastor tacos were very dry and had no taste at all. I felt like the meat had been cooked a day or two ago. Overall, I would not visit this place but might give them a second chance to redeem themselves.
I wonder why I was the only customer there when I picked my food. Mexican restaurants always seem busy. However, this one had zero customers at the time.
Lastly, I asked the lady at the counter for an item on the menu and replied, "we won't carry that item until...
Read moreI decided to expand my repertoire a bit and delve into more authentic Mexican cuisine. When I drove up and looked inside, I said to myself, "This is a REAL taqueria! " as I looked in, I noticed it was full of (wait for it)... Mexicans! They ate with gusto. I could clearly see that they were thoroughly enjoying the food. So... if the people who grew up eating Mexican food all their lives love it, its GOT to be good. I promptly went inside and ordered 2 steak taco dinners and a large horchata (I drank most of it while I waited for my food) to go. When I got home and dug into the tacos, I loved them. Not the skimpy anorexic tacos I've seen at other placed, but juicy chunks of nicely browned steak. Three tacos had me a max capacity! This place is awesome. May not look fancy, but the food is well...
