Señor Pan Cafe — Restaurant in Jefferson Township

Let me start off by saying I have eaten here plenty of times prior to this last visit and it was always delicious. That was not the case today, today was a bad experience. I wanted to treat my wife to a Cuban lunch and decided to come back since our previous experiences were amazing. We were seated as soon as we came in and our order was taken fairly quick as we already knew what we wanted. We started off with the trio de croquetas one of each(ground beef, chicken and ropa vieja). I reached for the first croqueta and it happened to be the ropa vieja, my favorite. I topped it with chimichrri and took a bite burning my tongue, yes it was a lil hot but the meat which is normally tender, juicy and shredded to perfection was tough, chewy, stringy and not at all shredded. What would normally be a quick bite turned into me having to bite down on the meat and pull it apart with my fingers to get one bite. The 2nd croqueta was ground beef and I have nothing to say about that one. The 3rd, the chicken croqueta was bland that the chimichrri couldn't save it. We received our sandwiches really fast as well. My wife ordered the Lechon sandwich and I ordered the ropa vieja sandwich(before I knew the status of the meat). We shared sandwiches so we can both have something different and unsurprisingly we were both disappointed again. As I said before the ropa vieja was tough, chewy, stringy and not shredded to perfection and that didn't change in the sandwich. Every bite felt as if I were eating more bread and less meat. The Lechon sandwich was definitely better the pork was juicy and tender but flavorless and just to top it all my wife found a rather large bone in her half of the sandwich. Their saving grace today was that the waitress was kind and sympathetic to the fact my wife found a bone in her food. Needless to say we will not...

==DISRESPECTFUL OWNER

I usually go to this spot 3-4 times a week, but today I had a terrible experience even with the manager present. My party and I ordered appetizers and food. We got the appetizers, but waited 20-25 minutes and never got our food. When I asked about the food I already ordered it turns out the waiter never placed our order in the system. The manager became aware of this and responded in non-caring manner and insisted that we pay for the appetizers. He also gave an attitude like reaction like "You ate your appetizers right?, well then you pay then." You can sense his attitude with us the customer... In my opinion as a business owner he should have seen the bigger picture and waived our $14 bill, but he chose otherwise. It is NOT about the money, but the principle in satisfying and retaining a clientele that constantly visits your establishment. Overall, their food is good, but today the manager evidently portrayed less than mediocre customer service. It doesn't take much thought to know when someone is trying to be rude and couldn't care less about your experience good or bad. Two thumbs down for their customer service and the manager who could have handled things in a different manner.
