As a Polish American, growing up on mostly Polish and American food, I actually quite like most of their food.
Perhaps from a Philippinos perspective, as someone who was growing up on those foods, the food just doesn't cut it, which would explain quite a few of the negative reviews. I know as someone growing up on a lot of Polish food, I'd definitely be more critical if some place 'Americanized' or rather screwed up some of my favorite Polish dishes, I probably wouldn't be too satisfied.
BUT, if you're like me, just someone who's never had food from this ethnic background, someone who has no standard when it comes to this stuff, you may very well enjoy it.
You really want to try something different? Try the purple bread with sweet cream cheese inside, or the various rolls filled with chicken or pork with some kind of sweet sauce in them.
Side note: I understand the complaints from Philippinos about some of these things being too sweet, and not because I agree, but because many Polish people feel the same way about American or Americanized...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHorrible. Pricey so be cautious. Turons and their cariocas were old and you can tell because they refried in old oil. They ended up being hard and overly coated with sugar. The bananas inside the turon was hard and dried out. I didn't want to waste my money so I tried eating them but unfortunately ended up throwing them out instead. It was unbearable. Overly sweet and the grease are just too much to ignore. They need to start thinking of quality over profit if they want to retain customers. People are not dumb. Where's the Filipino pride? As a fellow Filipina, you need to do better and start thinking of quality products you put out. I will update my review once I see improvements made. At least you started putting exp dates. You might want to consider keeping your air conditioning inside working to prevent the breads and other desserts from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOverpriced! Breads are fresh but the Kakanins are commercialized in quality. My kids love Sapin Sapin so I was excited when I saw individual serving in round shape. They were 6 pieces resting on each other that wouldnāt separate unless destroying the shape therefore itās difficult to serve them in Party separately The Sapin Sapin is bland compared to the local Filipino store in Niles. The Biko doesnāt have that Biko aroma and texture when you eat it. It is nicely presented and I like the colorful puto but I hope they make their kakanins taste like original homemade items. 7 cents to pay each grocery bag on top of already overpriced items. Just bring your own...
