TRAIN YOUR WAIT STAFF ON ALLERGENS. My wife and I ate at Peart St Taphouse with friends tonight. We ordered the Smores Pizza. My wife is lactose intolerant. We made this clear to our waiter. He told us there was just marshmallow and chocolate. After the fact my wife noticed cream cheese on a piece. Afterward we questioned our waiter on this. He stated he thought marshmallow contained dairy (if true, why did he not say something as I made it clear to him that she was lactose intolerant). So I am double confused.

I told the waitress my wife couldn't have lactose and he forgot the cream cheese (1 OF 3 INGREDIENTS ON A RECIPE)

Why does he think marshmallow contains dairy?

I sit here as my wife is going through extreme pain and will be affected for 24 hours. I will NEVER eat here again and advise that anyone with food allergies NEVER eat here either!

Luckily my wife does not experience anaphylactic reactions to dairy. This kind of mistake can KILL people! I cannot believe I am even having to write a review like this in the 21st century.

Also, we blatantly received wrong beers twice on the night. However, that is the least of my worries.

PS...and we paid for all of this and were not offered comps (even on the death pizza served...

The house that Pearl Street Taphouse is currently in was one of the houses that would have been torn down due to the walking bridge being put in, but it was moved to its current location which I think is an outstanding thing to do. The Taphouse has an adequate parking lot but there is also street parking. As soon as you walk in you notice the tables are all sitting pretty close to each other. If the restaurant wasn't so cozy, dim and inviting it would be kind of hectic to be so close together. It works for this restaurant. The bar is probably about 20 foot long and there are maybe like ten to twelve tables total. During the winter it can get pretty crowded. The summer months is when you can utilize the outdoor seating on the patio. The small building constitutes a small menu also. They have appetizers, salads and sandwiches. I can recommend the pretzel and beer cheese flight...really delicious. We had the turkey club sandwich, we both enjoyed it a lot. Turkey was not dry like some sandwiches can be. Kelly helped us pick beers to try on a few flights. We found several new ones we liked and a few we didn't. A great...

Let me start by saying the food and drinks were fantastic, absolutely no complaints about either of them. The service, however was awful. There were 2 of us and we sat outside. We were there for about 15 minutes (no staff had spoken to us) when an elderly group of 6 sat right next to us. Within seconds of them sitting, a waitress was at there table, introducing herself and apologizing for their wait as she must not have been paying attention. Mind you, no one has spoken to us yet. When she was done with answering their questions and taking their drink order, she came to us. She did not introduce herself, did not apologize just simply said in a stale tone " you ready to order?". We ordered our drinks and meal together, decided to bypass the appetizers due to how long we had already been sitting for. They brought us someone else's drinks before bringing ours. The table next to us received fantastic service (I'm a former server) and we were treated like we were wasting our servers time. Being a former server myself, I tip 30% or more always. I had a hard time tipping 10%...

On our morning walk, we happened to stumble upon this spot—and after reading reviews (especially about the beer cheese flight), we knew we had to find a way to try it out, even though it’s 21+. Luckily, the kids wanted a late dinner, so we took the opportunity to sneak out for a late-night beverage and a to-go order. The waitress was incredibly sweet—genuinely over-the-top kind—and the food we brought back to our Airbnb was spot-on. The grilled cheese was unique but absolutely delicious. The pretzel and beer cheese flight lived up to the hype and was such a fun experience. We also ordered a pizza and asked for it to be cooked with a "light char" since it’s super thin and it came out just right. This place is something special. If you're into cozy, homey bars and restaurants with character and great food, this place is a must-try.
