I held nostalgia for this place as I went here often during high school, however, it seems as though the sheen has worn. Walking in, it looked exactly the same as I remembered all those years ago. I ordered two sausage with cheese, hoping for the breakfast sausage links instead of the summer sausage equivalent found in kolaches. I then ordered one of the âstandardâ doughnut, the glazed. What could wrong, right? I watched as the person behind the counter grabbed my two sausage rolls and put them in the microwave. (Which was a bad sign right from the start.) I shouldâve asked her why she was doing that. Taking something that has a little bit of crunch and depleting it by over cooking in the microwave. An unhappy girl came around the corner and grabbed a glazed doughnut, put it in the bag, slid it under the window. I guess the folks were cordial enough, but I didnât understand the microwave move. The first bite I took confirmed my doubts. The normally, crunchy textured fried dough was mushy, soft, and microwaved, and the inside had no flavor. There was barely any cheese and the sausage link ⊠it was a letdown to say the least. OK well I need sustenance so I continue to take bite out of the glazed. A doughnut which looked light in color. A normal fried donut has a line in the middle as it floats in the oil frying. Itâs lighter in that part, as it just doesnât quite get deep down in the oil enough. This one barely had any change in discernible color across the surface and around to the bottom. The signature light line was missing. The only bite I took, tasted like a sugared sponge. It felt like it was not cooked. It was gross. I hope that is not the standard. The place gets 4.5 stars from what I saw, but itâs not getting that from me. Better luck next time.
Frankly, I would suggest going to the one down on Elm theyâre very spritely, and though it doesnât have breakfast sausage in their sausage rolls, the summer sausage equivalent is tasty and cheesy...

Read moreThis was by far the worst product I've ever received from Daylight Donut. Their version of a Jalapeño Sausage & Cheese roll, while interesting, lacked good flavor. The 2 that I received that day were both undercooked. Straight up were doughy. I've owned and operated a shop for many years. The other yeast raised were underproofed. The cook needs some feedback, so they correct their issues.
The selection was very...
