I am DEEPLY saddened by the change in ownership. I feel robbed of a place that existed and fed me for as long as I can remember. I suppose the previous owner had his reasons for selling but this hits hard.
There’s nothing I can do about this so I wish the new business best of luck but at the VERY LEAST I wanted them to go under a new name so they don’t tarnish and dishonor the memories I have of growing up with Pompei slices. The new pizza is a disgrace to what this place was for this neighborhood, taking away the cheesy mouthwatering pizza that was rich in flavor and the signature grandma slices (esp the bbq). In turn we’re left with this pizza that literally tastes like cardboard/refrigerated pizza. Last good pizza place standing in this area is stadium pizza and I’m PRAYING no amount of gentrification will take that place down.
R.I.P Pompei Pizza, it’s sad to see this neighborhood change but all good things must come to an end I suppose. Just wish I could’ve had it one last time.
First pic is old pompei, second is the new ownership. Way different pizza but for some reason the same name? Change the name and start a...

— We love Pompei and new owner Allie! My 2 year old literally wakes up in the morning asking for Pompei’s pizza and cookies. My personal favorite pie is the Sicilian. The white pie with roasted garlic is awesome, too! I also love the arugula salad with chicken — her chicken cutlets are thin and crispy like a classic chicken Milanese.
The real star here are the desserts. Allie trained as a baker and she makes homemade cookies, cannolis and tiramisu! We have absolutely loved the new breakfast editions to the menu for the weekend pop-ups. Pompei has been opening at 9:30am on Saturdays and Sundays serving up gooey delicious cinnamon buns and breakfast pizza! I have to say, I was initially skeptical of egg on pizza, but I am now a convert. Egg and bacon on pizza crust? It’s a deconstructed breakfast sammy!
The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming to kids. We love Gina, Angel and David, the pizza maker! This is an awesome...
Read moreI have been ordering pizza from Pompei for years. I placed an order and then called back to get the total and when I asked why the prices was so high they said there was an additional price for Garlic of $3.50. The additional prices was not the problem for me, it was the answer I got when I told them that this should be told to the customer at time of the purchase. The response I received from the employee was "the prices are in the internet". I asked to speak to the owner. I got the exact same response from the owner with an additional comment of "Buddy". I told him that's not a way to talk to a customer and not to call me "Buddy" and he said "Buddy do you want the order or not". Certainly I did not want the order after being spoken to in such a disrespectful way. That is not the way you speak to your customer, let alone one that has been ordering for year. I will never order from them again. If you deserve to be treated with respect and I am sure everyone does, I don't recommend you visit Pompei Pizza in Jersey City. They are far from providing the service...
