I’ve been frequenting Com Tam #9 since 2020 and this restaurant continues to be my favorite restaurant (I tell all my friends this is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Houston)!
This place remained open and continued to thrive in the pandemic (my family and I were reoccurring customers haha). The food and service never disappoints.
A couple things to mention:
Food: 10/10 - This restaurant is mainly known for its Hu Tieu whereas most Vietnamese restaurants focus on pho. I tried Hu Tieu or pork noodle soup here for the first time, and, needless to say, I was hooked every time after that. Although it is known for Hu Tieu, the banh mi and other dishes are excellent quality too! It is not easy to display such technique and deliver the same high quality for various different dishes, but this restaurant excels at everything else they put out. I remembered I ordered the Vietnamese beef stew (Bo Kho) and my dad couldn’t stop looking at my food since it looked so good, haha.
I’ve ordered takeout from here so many times, Khoi (apologies if I butchered your name!!) can recognize my voice over the phone as well haha.
Service: 10/10 - I would like to preface and mention I am not of Vietnamese descent. Although I am not Vietnamese, I never felt excluded or served any differently despite not being Vietnamese. The staff is exceptional, and Khoi and I are on a first name basis now! It really is the highlight of my weekend when I grab a Vietnamese iced coffee and get to have a 5 minute chat with Khoi. Khoi demonstrates excellent customer service and always makes a customer feel welcomed. He has a kind and positive attitude that keeps me coming back here again and again (the food is also always amazing quality too)!
I highly recommend coming here and giving this place a try! You won’t be...
Read moreMy experience was atrocious, it was fine at first until the guy who was serving our food started eyeballing my son. Shame on you. My son was trying to fix your cheap little stand with QR code, unbelievable that you thought your behavior was acceptable and think we wouldn’t notice. You were so pressed over a 20cent plastic stand. I know because I have bought those myself on Amazon in bulk. My child did not touch anything else on that table, we took the stand away and you still continued to eyeball my son.
Each time you would come by I could see you eyeing him up and down, when he crouched down under the table that’s literally all he was doing just crouching down. I saw you looking back at him and just staring. My child has a disability by the way… I hope that makes you feel great about yourself. We didn’t cause any disturbance, any mess, nothing at all and yet you still made us feel unwelcome. We will never again return. And yes I will be spreading the word about your atrocious behavior on social media. This is exactly the reason why we don’t go out because of people like you. We should’ve listened to my little sister who said we should’ve gone elsewhere because the place looked so cheap, rundown and ghetto.
It is also extremely rude for you to assume that I had no clue what the hell a combination sandwich was sir. I love Vietnamese sandwiches, I have them all the time. So for you to tell me I won’t like it and then just assume I would like what everyone else likes which was the grilled pork sandwich… basic ah sandwich. Never again will we...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at com tan #9, a fantastic Vietnamese spot that truly delivers on flavor. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the vibrant atmosphere and the extensive menu, which offers a huge variety of dishes to satisfy any craving.
The highlight of the meal was the pho soup—rich, aromatic, and packed with fresh ingredients. The broth was flavorful and perfectly balanced, with tender slices of meat and a generous amount of herbs and garnishes. The sandwiches, or bánh mì, were equally delicious, with a perfect balance of savory fillings and crispy baguette.
What really sets this place apart is its versatility. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty dinner plate, a refreshing smoothie, or a sweet dessert to end your meal, they’ve got it all. The smoothies were refreshing and made with real fruit, while the dessert was the perfect sweet finish to a great meal.
The service was attentive, and the staff was friendly, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic, flavorful Vietnamese food with a wide...
